This is the kind of crap that happens when education is sorely lacking in a society. Unbelievable. Sad. Pathetic. Upsetting. I cringed every tinme I would see a foreign reporter interview Mejia while he was president. Yes he makes for great comedic material but unfortunately the butt of the joke is ultimately the Dominican people. Do people even remember the overnight collapse of the peso? Smh. This guy is such a charlatan and it is so obvious to anyone with the slightest notion of common sense. And whats up Tupa. Edited on 8/29/2011 5:33 PM by cibaeño75. Cibaeno, you hit the nail right on the head. i have attended some of his meetings, just to get a feel for how things work in the political silly season. all he has done is to insult the current band of brigands, threatening to expunge them from the halls of government. his language is rustic, and folkloric, and he appeals to Joe the Plumber. he has not offered ONE specific, nor idea, as to how he will attempt to correct the economic and social malaise. he has made no attempt to connect with the demographic that attended school, seeking instead to cast his lot with the functional illiterates, who are looking for a quick handout. he looks like, and is, a throwback to what one would have hoped are bygone times. sadly, because of the fact that Leonel wore out his welcome, Hippo might be recycled. it is a fate too apocalyptic to contemplate. |

The suits didn't fit and where not to his liking, and immediately he offered them to a member of his entourage who was the son of a retired Balaguer general, who was part of Hipoloco's government. The son of the general gladly accepted the surprise gift, and stayed around to be fitted. Later, I asked Hipolito Peña about the suits, and how much they cost, and he instructed me that one of them was made out of gold thread, and the other one had diamond dust, that made it shine. The material alone for these suits cost in excess of US$10K each. mega corrupt, stupid, inept, loud, boisterous, allantoso, a..hole with a Trujillo complex. The same guy who his preferred bodyguard, coronel Pepe Goico, gave 13 (yes thirteen) gold Rolexes away to military and civilian "friends" including the one that Hipoloco proudly wears in public, bought with the Baninter bank credit card, paid for by the DR taxpayers with every gallon of the gasoline tax that we buy in DR. To have this moron back in the government in 2012 says a lot about how the voters in DR qualify their candidates, and if another Trujillo clone arose, he will probably be elected also. Wiki says 10 gold Rolexes, other sources say 19 gold Rolexes, and he also bought a helicopter with the same credit card. Go ahead and google it and you will see if I am exaggerating.
