Stupid US corporations almost universally hated.

When I was a child I used to have free school diners and the portions were not over - generous.

Fortunately the baker nearby was generous and he always had some slightly burnt rolls for free.

Also farmers used to harvest potatoes and beet and when the harvest was complete there were always some at the side of the field that you could pick up and store deep in the ground so they did not freeze.

In addition you could shoot pigeons - very nutritious.

And the person who kept chickens would give you one if you prepared and plucked some.

Of course the odd cabbage was a treat!

The US has always wasted much food.

The trash bins scavenged through by local children at the local USAF base were full of food sufficient to feed many families.

I assume that when aC and xw go to Dominican restaurants and there are the usual thin children begging for scraps they never give anthing.

Probably you were a 'mud-lark' at Portsmouth docks where the ships used to set sail. On a school project I investigated children like you - get up early, put on your underpants, plaster yourself with mud and from the mud and dirty dock water shout up to the people on deck to throw you anything - a scrap of bread in a bag, some money or if you were really lucky a trinket.Mudlarks

... I am surprised to find no reference to the mudlarks , the boys in the harbour who messed in the black mud for the people coming off trains to throw money to. I still hear the cry to the people leaning over the railings

... all along the railings were full of people throwing mostly pennies and halfpennies, not too many could afford a threepencee or sixpence. The sparsy was either a threepence or sixpence. Of couse it was only when the tide was out !
The mud was real black and the boys went right under for the money.. how they always found it was a mystery.

I can take almost anything from abc and that is saying a lot ,but NOT his crazy versions of history.

Problem is its not crazy history - mud larks did exist and all the rest is 100% true. However I can't say for certain that Blut was one.
Obesity is getting worse in the US and most of Europe.
