Hope readers find it of interest.http: Risks associated with the Haiti eathquake: //www.rms.com/Publications/Haiti_Earthquake_FAQ.pdf News articles from previous earthquake. http://www.qsy.com/iar_eq01/iarneq01.html With a rich variety of data and graphics, El día del terremoto [The Day of the Earthquake] by Leonardo de Jesús Reyes Madera, director of the Dominican Society of Seismology and Seismic Engineering, is a new book that details what happened on August 4, 1946, during the earthquake that struck the Dominican Republic. The prologue of the book was written by engineer Rafael Corominas Pepín with an introduction by Euclides Gutiérrez Félix. The book will commemorate 65 years since the traumatic event that marked the Dominican population of that time. This work includes numerous testimonies of survivors of the seismic movement that devastated part of the country. The book hit the shelves on August 4, 2011, at 7:00pm—the exact time of the earthquake 65 years ago. The compilation aims to publicize and remember the effects of the natural phenomenon with photographs of the era. The author proposes to begin drafting a plan at the national level that clearly expresses [the Dominican Republic’s] seismic reality based on verifiable experiences rather than on imagination and assumptions.
