Sweetypie. I am sure I have done more to help the truly needy in the past year than you have done in your entire, miserable, shallow, empty life. You post just points out your ignorance of true conservationism. You feel good about taking other people's money and giving it away to those who you feel is more deserving. WooHoo.....aren't you special? A true conservative gives of themselves without demanding of others. For everyone else I am looking to start a not for profit micro-loan company in the D.R. This will be for start-ups and small established business that embrace the free market ideal. If anyone if interested in getting involved drop me a line. I will need some feet on the ground there. Yes maybe a good scheme - you register as a charity, make charitable donations,, tax deductable of course, encourage others to do likewise, pay yourself reasonably well as director, get expense account trips to the DR and big SUV to drive when you visit. Hopefully also some funds do find their way to poor Dominicans. S. |

My trips to the D.R. are already Tax deductible(Not that it is much of a deduction) and my salary will be $1 a year. These loans will be made available to those who will put it to good use in the Free Market so it is of no interest to you. Proof of dreadlocks Bigotry. Of course micro loans are dangerous and distoring as has been discovered in many countries. Consider 10 farmers in India leasing land from landlords. They are producing produce for the local market. Some get loans from a micro-loan organisation to buy small tractors, fertilizers, piping for irrigation etc. Others who do not yet lease land are also newly able to lease land. Landlords start raising the rent on land The market can absorb a certain amount of produce at a fair market price. There is no government intervention. Next harvest season production is up and market price drops according to free market economics. Farmers who did not apply for micro-loans cannot get their normal price for produce and must pay increased rents therefore face hardship. Farmers who got micro-loans cannot pay them back and face loss of tenure and any houses / land they own plus oxen etc. They have hardship also. Small landlordswhen rents are not paid face hardship - also services they provide irrigation etc . collapse. Large landlords may jump in and acquire land at knock-down prices - they benefit then after a few years when they limit production to the level the market can take. aC obviously has the brain of a small v8 under the bonnet. Shylock: Most learnèd judge, a sentence! Come prepare! Portia: Tarry a little, there is something else. This bond doth give thee here no jot of blood; The words expressly are "a pound of flesh." The Merchant Of Venice Act 4, scene 1, 304–307 "A pound of flesh" is a figurative way of referring to a harsh demand or spiteful penalty—the consequences of defaulting on a desperate bargain. But the usurer Shylock demands a literal pound of flesh as security when the merchant Antonio comes to borrow money for a friend. Actually many Indian farmers have committed suicide and loan givers such as aC proposes are blameless? I once met a woman desperately trying to sell a baby to pay a loan. Keep aC and the Shylocks out of the DR! S.
