I see what you are talking about. They are both a couple of circus clowns. Well if Hippoloco or Papaloco wins we will get to laugh hard for the next four years. Yes laugh real hard all the way to an asylum..

I have never in my entire life had these feelings before, I just hope we will never have to see the winds of change swallow the seeds of grain our founding forefathers cultivated.

Just reading what you say, your words expressed in almost poetic language, brings a chill down my spine. Gives me a spooky feeling as if a premonition of a tragic upcoming event.........is about to become true.......................to reality............

Always remember that it's NEVER too late to preserve our way of life. The only movement our country desperately needs right now, is to immediately embroiled in a war between those who believe in social justice and those who believe in self-interest.

Sometimes I wonder what did the founding fathers died for. DR is getting invaded and the SOB of govt is looking the other way, Corruption has its bloody claws on every institution, the crimewaves is off the charts, People no longer hold family values, and finally theses MOFO's mining company is planing to store or mine for platinum in one of the most beautiful regions in el Cibao that should be untouched! WTF!!!!!! honestly i gonna reject my heritage. This is too much to bear. What would Duarte, Sanchez and Mella think about the pithole DR is slowly getting swallowed into?

Believing in the ways of your ancestors are honoring in itself, but the best way to honor our ancestor is to do everything we can to change our bleak future.

Perez

In my opinion your attitude is the wrong one. In the 1835 the founding fathers saw a worse situation than we are facing today, their attitude towards the problem was simply to kick out the invaders. Today the problem is not as big as it was back then because today is only a problem of conciousness that most be dealt with by creating concioussnes in the public to make a better choice. In 2012 there are better choices for president like Max Puig or Guillermo Moreno and many others too.

Belly,
The candidates you have mentioned are definitely better, but unfortunately our country encourages voters to vote merely for the party line rather than actually performing their civic duty and investigating all the candidates and their positions.

There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." -- Winston Churchill

OK, Boss, then can I begin the securing of our borders?, with the new an improved version of "El Corte" #2? Operation: "coupe tete, boule kay"
The new key word instead of "perejil", will be "c' mon ouai"

RE: The island of La Hispaniola is DOOMED
Just "kicking out the invaders" may sound like to do all and end all of things but its not. First, the Haitian of today is NOT the Haitian of yesteryear. Haitians today migrate to seek a better quality of life (JUST LIKE many people of many races INCLUDING Dominicans did in coming to the US) not to take over and impose some political movement by sheer numbers. Therefore, to refer to them as "invaders" implies that their intention individually and as a collective is a bad one. That of course is not reasonable, intelligent nor realistic.

Regardless of how revolting and unsettling this may be some people, the fact of the matter is that Haitians ALSO form part of Dominican society in one way are another. They are part of the "fabric" that makes up what the Dominican Republic is to a reasonable degree. Mind you, this is not to imply that Haitian culture and Dominican culture are somehow indistinct or that there is no contrast. Clearly, there is a different and distinction. However, my point is that Haitians (specifically the ones that have been in the Dominican Republic all their life, and Dominicans of Haitian descent) also form a part of that social and cultural weave. Take for example a tourist, who knows nothing about the Dominican Republic, who comes and visits. He/She goes to Santo Domingo and sees a Man on the corner selling what seems to be juice (what we all know to be el chinero), they buy a cup, pay for it, walk away enjoying and thinking, "wow that guy just sold us some delicious fruit". The "guy" could be Dominican, or he could have been Haitian, the tourist probably would just assume he is Dominican because of his geographical location (the Dominican Republic), but really doesn't know, and doesn't care. Why?? Because in that particular context, it simply does not matter. Haitians form part of Dominican society much like Koreans, Italians, Mexicans, Cubans, Dominicans etc form part of American society in parts of the US. The economic context however makes it difficult for those Haitians to make as much of a positive and welcomed impact of society, but nevertheless the potential is there.

The immigration issue needs to be handled in a way that is responsible, fair, DOCUMENTED, consistent and free of the discriminatory impulses that are connected to it today. Duarte, Rosario y Mella were not gun-slinging, uneducated cowboys just jumping to kill something. They were INTELLECTUALS, strategiens, calculating one move in relation to the outcome. If they were alive today, they would likely not adopt nor support the random, unorganized, indiscriminate, and wreckless deportation of Haitians as it is being practiced today. They would go about it from a intellectual angle, and not negligently let the issue augment and then try to lazily implement shady and ill-willed legislation targeting Haitians and Dominicans of Haitians descent considering the fact that Rosario was just that. So don't just presume that they would just kick out the "invaders" because History, logic and reason says otherwise.

Sanchez wasn't an ethnic Haitian, nor had blood connections with them of any kind. So you fail yet again.
