Airfare from Europe will now go up to pay for a ridiculous Carbon Tax. http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/ef1e95c0-e097-11e0-bd01-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1YQWCa6HJ Quote: The airline industry’s total bill is expected to be €1.1bn ($1.5bn) at today’s carbon prices, the study says. The whole sector may only make a $4bn profit this year, the International Air Transport Association has forecast. “Compared to airlines’ annual fuel bills, these additional costs are minor, but compared to profits they are considerable,” said Andreas Arvanitakis, Thomson Reuters Point Carbon associate director. “The question is how much of the cost can be passed to passengers and cargo clients.” How much will be passed along???? HAHAHAHAHA! All of it!!! So just sit back and watch the # of tourists fro Europe decline. Edited on 9/19/2011 3:15 PM by anthonyC. Proof of dreadlocks Bigotry. Good.....Now you can pay the "Carbon" tax for the airlines so that the D.R. tourism industry doesn't take a hit. BTW How do you grill with a Solar oven? Proof of dreadlocks Bigotry. HAHAHAHAHA! All of it!!! So just sit back and watch the # of tourists fro Europe decline. Nonsense of course. First a jet plane burns very little fuel cruising at altitude and burns much taking off and landing. So short routes to Spain etc from Europe. will be penalized much more. Airlines are ordering superjumbos with up to 840 seats such as the A380. These are very economical on fuel. The purchase of these planet saving planes will be encouraged by moderate fuel taxes and older planes may be retired. http://www.dancewithshadows.com/aviation/air-austral-buying-2-all-economy-class-airbus-a380-superjumbo-planes-to-carry-840-passengers-in-each/ If you look at all inclusive prices from apple vacations etc. to the DR you will find that in many cases they are more expensive than similar vacations from Europe. Airline efficiency of European charter airlines serving the DR is already very high and the increased tax will encourage them to invest in even more efficient aircraft creating jobs and saving the environment. If aC had to pay 12 dollars a gallon for gasoline I have no doubt he would, if he is at all rational, invest in a car that sips gas and saves the planet. S. S. |
