Good point, you are probably right........It was probably bias from the start and recorded just to mislead and falsely prove that Americans are dumb.

Nevertheless, I have seen similar street interiews on the tonight show and the responses were similar. But yes, I think it was bias....If you go to any street corner around the world and ask the same questions, no doubt the responses would be any different. The average person on the go is too busy making a living and doing their own thing and are not concerned with things that are basically trivial. knowledge in and of itself is vain, does not give nor take away, definitely can't buy you a cup of coffee across the street.
