I know there are different models and all I just need a ball park figure. Anymore details such as models and what city or region you are quoting would be great! |

They cost an arm and a leg there and each stores may have their own differential selling prices. Lastly, I have had friends telling me that they are with manufacture's glitches. Almost as though they are or seem to be knock offs since their functions are a little bit off and not all the applications are fully operational in DR as should. So yeah, like the last poster have said above. It is best to get it online through some American based shopping website. The only thing is you would have to find a website that actually do deliver in DR or I am not sure how much the shipping and handling fee might be. However, if you have a trusting friend or family member in the US, you could actually have the phone delivered to their house and they send it to you via Fed-Ex and pay the shipping insurance fee to guaranty and assured the delivery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Will I(the recepient) be responsible for any duties or taxes? Well, nowadays most couriers do a pre-inspection right before allowing any costumer to send a package. You know after 911 and all, they want to make sure they take all the safety measure precaution on their end. Do not worry, they will tell the customer up front of the items they may ship or not be able to ship as far as the inspection is concerned... They will do it in front of you and as long as it already has the seal of approval from a Fed-Ex agent here in the States it is unlikely they will open the box again. However I am not sure if they might simply scan it once reaching its destination, but I doubt it. No, you the recipient will not be responsible for any duties, receiving handling fees or taxes if it is already paid for by the sender here from the States. When you go to a website which is selling the Ipod, make sure to check and see if they do overseas delivery and the cost before actually placing or finalize the order. Or like I said, coordinate with a trusting friend or family member. Either way, if you ordered the Ipod and have it shipped to an address of a friend in the States who will later ship it to you via Fed-Ex, you will still have to pay the US shipping fee right there and then with the website to have it shipped to that US friend's house. What you must do though, is have that friend or family member order it for you and make sure as the sender that he/she actually get the tracking number and receipt to keep as record when it is being sent to you via Fed-Ex... have he/she sends you the tracking number so that both of you could keep track of of the shipment. P.S: I think Fed-Ex do "Entrega a domicilio" or that they will call you once the shipment has arrived to go pick it up at your local nearing Fed-Ex post with valid proof of Identification. When I was in DR, I ordered clothes online and UPS delivered it right at my door. Edited on 10/29/2008 11:38 PM by AfroLatino. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What you do is open an account in EPS or CPS, which are couriers. They will give you a US address in Miami. So when you buy in Amazon (for example), you ship it to your address in the US. Then, EPS/CPS will ship it from the US to the DR and manage all the paperwork. It's safer and faster, but I've never had any problems after buying hundreds of items online. The only drawback is that you actually pay shipping twice. Still cheaper than going to a local shop. DaniDR Living in the Paradise |
