'Barack Obama is the American Dream'
I believe November 4th, 2008 gave all of us a historic opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind election. We will look back at this day years from now as one of the defining moments of this country’s epic trajectory.

This was not a victory for Obama and the Democrats. This was a victory for all of us: Republicans, liberals, independents, blacks, whites…Americans. It was a victory for “change”, because eight years deep into the 21st century, we are finally ready to really enter the new Millenium the way we are supposed to: as the beginning of a new era.

CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA!

Get over yourself, brown noser!.

The only reason you like him is because you think he is black like yourself!.

Guess what, fugly, he blongs to ALL of us!.

NOW, all of a sudden, all blacks want to claim him as one of their own when the man has NEVER claimed to be all black.

RE: 'Barack Obama is the American Dream'
what is your maladjustment, Tupapaupa? what do you mean when you say that he has never claimed to be black? he does not have to; it is understood in the american millieu. is he supposed to walk around with a banner proclaiming his negritude? what is with the anger? for all the bitter guys out there, the USA has had 43 presidents, all of them white. how do you tell your kids that they can become anything they want to in America, then show them a group photo of the presidents( and vice presidents, for that matter), and all are of the same racial group? American kids did themselves proud; they banished the prejudices of their forebears last night. to see thousands of white kids, most probably college kids from Columbia University, hugging black folks in Harlem , and jumping for joy, convinces me that there is no limit to the greatness America can achieve; it is only restrained by the miserable old guard, who, thankfully, will soon have departed this earthly plane.

First of all, the problem I have is that people like AfroIdiota want to claim him because he is black like them, while forgetting he is also white.

Every single shit that comes out of black people's mouths is "he is one of us", when in fact he is one of all of us.

Second of all, I never said he has never claimed he is black. What I said was that he has never claimed to be ALL black.

His victory is a victory for ALL of us, not just those who identify with him because of their color!.

I don't think that any reasonable black person believes that this is a victory for black people only, but, WE are celebrating someone who relates to us on a personal level and seems genuine.

You and I from different societies see a mixed-man, but, most Americans believe "black". It's going to take a while to get that out of the country's psyche.

RE: 'Barack Obama is the American Dream'
Let's just hope that the special interest groups headquartered at DC (the military, the pharmaceutical, agrarian, jewish and cuban lobbies) let him govern and not try to pull a Kennedy on him. Even though he wasn't my first choice on democratic candidates (Hillary having more relationship with the DR and all that), I'm all for seeing him living up to his promises.

Then I guess most black people interviewed are not reasonable.

I even stopped talking politics with my black friends, very reasonable people, because all they did was say he is "one of us".

Didn't you watch Oprah and Jesse Jackson crying like idiots when Obama spoke after winning?.

You think that was because they think he is half-white?.

NO, it was because they think he is "one of them".

It's all the wasps fault, TuPapaupa, with their stupid and foolish one drop rule and all related BS. Believe me, if the rest of american society used the racial criteria used on Louisiana or Latin America, african americans, as we know them, would be a smaller community than they already are.
