RE: 'Barack Obama is the American Dream'
This could also be the beginning of African Americans and all minorities stepping up to the plate and feeling more productive in the USA. I wore my Barack Obama shirt around yesterday and my other one today. I live down south in Augusta Ga but I went to a redneck town 15 minutes from me and you should have seen the difference from yesterday and today. I think they know he is the right person for the job. I saw so many smiles today, how you doing, and respect today compared to yesterday.......We need to put out an Amber Alert for GC. Tell us your sentiments GC we'll(or I'll) like to here from you do you feel any different than before. I'm not here to rag you or beat you up on your opinions, because that would be taking a step backwards. What do you think of John McCain speech last night.

what is your maladjustment, Tupapaupa? what do you mean when you say that he has never claimed to be black? he does not have to; it is understood in the american millieu. is he supposed to walk around with a banner proclaiming his negritude? what is with the anger? for all the bitter guys out there, the USA has had 43 presidents, all of them white. how do you tell your kids that they can become anything they want to in America, then show them a group photo of the presidents( and vice presidents, for that matter), and all are of the same racial group? American kids did themselves proud; they banished the prejudices of their forebears last night. to see thousands of white kids, most probably college kids from Columbia University, hugging black folks in Harlem , and jumping for joy, convinces me that there is no limit to the greatness America can achieve; it is only restrained by the miserable old guard, who, thankfully, will soon have departed this earthly plane.

First of all, the problem I have is that people like AfroIdiota want to claim him because he is black like them, while forgetting he is also white.

Every single shit that comes out of black people's mouths is "he is one of us", when in fact he is one of all of us.

Second of all, I never said he has never claimed he is black. What I said was that he has never claimed to be ALL black.

His victory is a victory for ALL of us, not just those who identify with him because of their color!.

Tupapaupa,
I know where you're coming from. Don't forget that although the ODR/Hypodescent rules are no longer enforced, ironically it is African Americans themselves who've adopted it and encourage it. Any deviation from this may get one labelled a 'race denier' or ashamed of ones heritage or sometype of wannabe (remember when Tiger Woods repped both his heritages).
Also remember that Obama was not initially fully supported by many in the African American community because they didn't feel he was really 'black' (one of them) due to being half white/half Kenyan.

Correct.

CeJota, you're too right about GC, l l.

I thought John McCain did a good facing-saving job with his speech. He was gracious and perhaps he is really into this bipartisan program with OBAMA. That would be great, I think?

RE: 'Barack Obama is the American Dream'
when wasn't he "black enough" a handfull of naysayers doesn't represent the whole black community. There's still a handfull sticking to there guns. As for you saying he probally relate more to his mother side what you talking about? The fact she had a black man and he has a black wife lol. At the end of the day he can represent all of us as this melting pot which I welcome with open arms but don't deny the fact that he still is the first black president because the history books will state that clearly. If he screw up God forbid I can guarantee you you'll say the first black president really fucked up.

first things first; WELCOME BACK, CIBAENO. secondly, kudos to Manhattanite for keeping his slate of intelligent remarks filled, as usual. as to Tupapaupa, i do not know what to make of him. i do not know his age, so i do not know what he has seen in his life. so it is easy, but silly, for him to ridicule the tears of Jesse Jackson and Oprah. possibly, to him Jim Crow is an abstraction. but, when you are a little boy on the bus with your father, and a white man says "get up boy, i want your seat", you will cry when a black man becomes president. i lived through the civil rights era, my friend. i cried too, when i saw 70 year old women jumping for joy. it also touched me when i saw those white kids in Harlem. nobody is silly enough to claim Obama as their own; circumstances make him community property.

No no no, I ridiculed their tears because I know they were crying because they think Obama is one of them.

Look, why did Oprah said she wasn't going to have Palin on her show?.

She claimed that it was because she didn't want to discuss politics on her show.

That's fine and dandy but why didn't she "claimed" that BEFORE Obama apperared on her show and BEFORE she endorsed him?.

And Jesse Jackson, come on man, the man have used the word "racism" more often than AfroIdiota.

Let me tell you something, I like Obama not because he is half black and half white. I like him because of what he stands for as a man/politician.

I like him so much that even if a registered Republican for many years, I voted for him.

I think he will do a better job than McCain.

Let me make it clearer, even if McCain had some Dominican in him, I wasn't voting for him.

When Obama came into "the picture" a few years ago, I knew he was going to be President someday, even when my black friends thought otherwise.

It's funny those same friends, who once said "he is not one of us, he is half-white" are now saying "one of us won".

RE: 'Barrack Obama is the American Dream'
I hope nobody really believes Obamaa is the American dream - USA politics is so bad for the USA, for the World. USA creates crises by the dozen and trashes the planet.. Obama will be no different.
DR/Russia and all other countries must be strong against the continued threat that promises only hunger and desparation for the rest of the World.
