We pay for a 3MB (Download Connection) but our actual Download Speed is between 400-740 kb/sec. Please let me know where are you located (more/less) what's your contracted Interned Speed and what's your actual Speed. You can test your Speed at several Websites like; www.speed.com.do (that's from Claro and it seem to be intentionally be down all the time) http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/default.asp http://testinternetspeed.org/ http://speedtestmia.com/ Please let me know !!! I am totally aware of never receiving 3MB/sec actual Download Speed when contracting a 3MB Plan but 400-740 kb/sec is ridiculous. |

On top of that it cost over 2,000 pesos per month I been using tricom but it all seems the same down in DR. It would be great if some of the big players from the US step in and give us great speed at a good price! |

If there are many houses in front of you and they are heavy users, then you will never get the speed that you are paying for. |

I am totally aware of never receiving 3MB/sec actual Download Speed when contracting a 3MB Plan but 400-740 kb/sec is ridiculous. I can actually asure that is the norm in just about every country. The main different being that here in USA most provider use the spike method to trick people into thinking they have a higher speed than they really get. With comcast here I pay for a 15 MB Download and up to 10 MB upload and even if I do the test it does show that the speed at which the line can operate by doing a speed test but in reality my real speed is around 1mb download 560kb upload. In DR they don't use the spike method to trick people so what the speed the says is actually what you will get in real life. Here is a article that can go into deeper details and may help you! http://www.jimgoings.com/2008/03/fios-vs-comcast-a-real-world-comparison-and-review/ The picture below shows network activity for a normal US comcast customer. As you can see the big spike which ussually last about 15 second which is enough time for the normal 10 seconds speed test that usually people run to test their internet speeds. ![]() Edited on 1/8/2012 2:09 AM by Belly. If you are using wireless and you have a weak signal, get a long USB cable and put the transducer/dongle up a pole on the roof (protected from rain and theft). That may help. In reference to speed , I agree. I just switched to uverse on the big 12 mbs, and though greatly improved frm xfinity, it comes in at 11,5 which has to be shared with cable, reducing it further. I dont understand your wireless instruction, wireless adapter or phone? |

It you are getting 11.5 on a 12 mb/s plan you are doing very well "Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics... Even if you win, you're still retarded." |
