RE: will Obama lift the Cuban embargo?
Che Guevara, Minister of Economics (believe it or not), slapped an embargo on the U.S. in 1961 in an excess of adolescent pique, not unusual among the rich kid nihlists from the Granma.

After TWO YEARS of negotiations, the U.S. Congress transliterated Che's document and slapped it back on the gang of thugs.

That's the famous U.S. embargo, fellows. Learn a little history, THEN you can go on repeating it.

pelaut, can you point to some supporting literature regarding this asserion you just posted? was it a formal embargo, equivalent to the one currently in place? any references? i confess ignorance on the subject. i have reservations about your timeline, since sanctions were imposed on cuba right after the Bay of Pigs fiasco in 1961.

RE: will Obama lift the Cuban embargo?
It smells like another Cuban elitist sympathizer. He failed to note that the Cuban embargo was partially instituted prior to bay of pigs a reaction from the U.S. and an embargo which was primarily on Cuban sugar export. It was merely done as a pressuring act but wasn't fully instituted until Cuban seizures of U.S companies, the bay of pigs and then finally hardening the embargo was the Cuban missile crises. But maintaining the embargo has been a labour of the Cuban Elite in Miami, as all but a handful (at most) of countries are against the embargo and the Helms-Burton act. Hopefully he will consider removing the embargo albeit with reasonable conditions.

'Cuba will stay socialistic'

In an exclusive interview with RT, daughter of Cubas President Raul Castro, Mariela Castro, reflects on what will happen once all the Cuban living legends of the revolution are gone.

I hope he doesn't. I hope he makes the sanctions stronger. Fidel and his brother should both be in prison, tried, and hanged like Saddam.

Why the hell should Obama be nicer to one of America's enemies? How is this going to better things for Americans? What about all the people who dies or were captured and tortured in the Bay of Pigs fighting with the USA support?

I think they and their families be real happy to learn USA would now want to get rid of the sanctions.

Cuba will always be an enemy of the USA as long as the Communists are in power. Make the sanctions tougher until all political prisoners are free and there are fair elections.

Will this also apply to Vietnam and China ( Communist states )?

Please. I think you should really research the History of Cuba, it's revolution ( how an why) and the impetus behind the embargo. You will learn Cuba has never been a stable democracy. Starting with Don Estrada Palma ( Cubas George Washington) who was over thrown by a coup. The truth is out there!

find it.
