RE: Democracy isn't all it is cracked up to be
My beloved Friends, I am talking to both of you, I have a lot of respect and appreciation for both of you Dr. Professor Dread and Atabey, you are persons with lots of personal values as personal integrity as well.
The Prof. admitted openly and publicly his mistake ... this show furthermost that we all can make at anytime a mistake, please let us forgive and be forgiven.

We should have our discrepancies and point of views, all what counts are good intentions, not matter if at times we have to face each others because some miss-interpretation or whatever. Let us keep true love and empathy alive, we don't need to agreed with each other but be respectful of each other indeed.

therefore my best wishes to you all.

RE: Democracy isn't all it is cracked up to be
as i have said before, it was an exercise in poor judgement, on my part, to have gone public with this issue, rather than take the route of the personal message. beyond that , there is nothing to apologize for. if Atabey wants to think the whole issue was fabricated, and it makes him feel like a martyr, that is his choice. he has stated his postition. he stands steadfast by his assertion that he did not engage in any conspiracy. that leaves only two ways of looking at this matter. i can believe him, or disbelieve him. i am willing to listen to his side, that he did not try to set me up. beyond that, there is nothing more to say, at least, not from me. to you, tschotschua, thanks for your kind appraisal of the matter. your appelation of me as Professor Dread is a little over the top. i will take it, anyway. i am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Dread's accusation:
"open debate. yes. a forum in which unpopular ideas are given the opportunity to be heard, and debated. seems like Atabey is equivocal on this issue. on the one hand, he laments the lack of such freedoms in Cuba. on the other hand, he wants to limit them, right here, in the forum. so, while he demands freedom for Cubans to express themselves, he seeks to fashion coalitions to restrict the free speech of others, namely his ill fated attempt to get a group together to petition the moderator to ban me from the site. now, there is some consistency for you. a man who is true to his moral convictions.:

glimmertwin, unlike Atabey, i am a guy who will not sell out his sources. the fact that they gave the info to me in confidence is something i honor. otherwise, i would take him up on his offer, and blow the whole thing wide open. i see no reason why someone would have shared this with me, if there was no truth to it."

"Blow the whole thing wide open" An apt description of what happened to Dready's slandering and fabricated story about me

As stated to others I'm willing to allow this event to speak for itself and understand that unbiased people will see through the maliciously characterization of my intentions on the matter. That the person who manufactured this false story should believe himself not bound to the civilized norms of proper etiquette when faced with the inconvenient facts that destroy his fabricated basis of support, I'll allow those unbiased posters their obvious conclusion on the matter.

As for me, the accused, were it not that the false and fabricated charge is diametrically opposed to the open debate forum we must all maintain as the heart of a free society, so much fuss over the matter would indeed be unhealthy. But it is not so trivial a matter. Propriety and protocol would demand, indeed to the otherwise cultured and well bred, be ineluctable. Sadly, we see but another demonstration, and from an elder of the poverty of civility, decency, and protocol.
