I always appreciated the corrupt police - for a few pesos or a cold Presidente, speeding tickets could be made to vanish into thin air!!!!!

better then taking a day off of work to pay a stupid ticket, I rather pay the cop

You are contributors , and accomplices to corruption. You are real proof of why DomRep is what is.

it is what it is.

I'll pay the ticket, thank you.

It's the fact that they get paid peanuts is why they are like that......American cops are corrupt as well, but for the BIG bucks... you know what i am saying is true, greed changes everyones mind..... i am why DR is the reason it is now, No I don't think so> I am not the President that is corrupt, I am not the US. I am not the General... I am me, and I speak the truth. you would be corrupt if you where getting paid only 5000 pesos a month

Mr chillaxin you are a corrupt enabler who is trying to say you are doing a good deed by paying off a cop This is similar to the conclusion you made that good for A Roid he got the big bucks before he got caught Most people would consider you an amoral unethical contributor to all the corruption you are always whining about with all due respect

RE: Corrupt military and Police in D.R.
I am from the United States and was visiting Santo Domingo September 3-13th 2009 and saw firsthand how corrupt the Police or Military is. I'm not sure which ones it was, but the ones with the Gray uniforms. I'm sorry about how underpaid they are, but it is no reason to harass Dominican guys when walking with an American. Late Friday night I was walking back to my hotel and these two police guys with gray uniforms waited until we left the lit up area on the El Conde was on a dark side street with no one else around and insisted that the Dominican guys give them 200 pesos to keep them taking him to jail. The sad part is that this happened two times in the same night. I had heard of this before and have seen the same Gray uniform officers hang outside the Mercure Hotel and when a Dominican Guy comes out of the hotel, they have to give the officers 200 pesos.
This is crazy and the Dominican Government needs to do something about it. I’m not sure if it’s Gay prejudice thing or what or if they do the same thing to the Dominican girls. I plan to write the Embassy about this also. I have been coming to Santo Domingo for over five years and now I am not sure who to trust now.
