This is not meant in an antagonistic way.Nobody wants to fight for Haiti. You are waiting for a Messiah or a life saver and do you know something? Nobody else is going to do your work. We all know that the DR is way ahead of Haiti in many aspects, but answer this. Who's doing the work for the average Dominican? Who's putting a stop to this rampant corruption, the violence, teen-age pregnancy and the myriad of other problems? Who's going to put a stop to this drug epidemic? The DR has had leaders(no matter how brutal) who had pride and vision for their country. Imagine if Trujillo and Balaguer did absolutely nothing. No investments, no schools, no roads, no trees etc... If you're in a society with no functioning institutions, no matter how hard you work, you will constantly hit a brick wall. Go to Haiti and see how hard people bust their ass, but, if someone is not well educated, he/she needs a boost otherwise.....(add whatever you want) Peace. |

I'd recommend you to read the book "Notes from the Last Testament: The Struggle for Haiti" by Michael Deibert... Well I don't discount Mr.Deibert's characterization of their positions, and I wouldn't even aim to discount your previous statements on the board that the CBC's political positions on Haiti may present a challenge to DR's interests. But this is a far cry from accusing them of waging a vocal anti-DR campaign. |
