I know the inhabitants of the Spanish Antilles have had Taino research but what about the countries of largely Afro descent such as Haiti, Jamaica? We all know that these islands (especially Haiti) have had a markedly significant history of Taino presence. I just find it quite possible that although the populations of these countries are largely of African descent and may not show it phenotypically, that Taino admixture might still exist in the blood of people who don't know they have it. Especially with the tricky unpredictable nature of genetics. Unless it can be said that the Taino died out completely before the arrival of the African slaves (hence, the maroons). Isn't there bound to be some sort of trace left? |

Isn't there bound to be some sort of trace left? I reeeeeeaaaaally doubt that. When Haiti emerged, it was a Black supremacist nation. Before declaring their independence circa 1800, they had eliminated anything that wasn't Black and moved and denied all rights to non-Blacks. Phenotypically, I have never ever seen a Haitian who is even mulatto, except a reporter in TV. I can assure you that there were absolutely no people who weren't pure Black. I don't even think that the French had mixed with the Indians. I am sure that a mtDNA study in Haiti will show 0.0% or 0.00000001% at most. Jamaica may have more than Haiti, but still almost nothing. |

I will be there again on Monday. Our Canadian gov't is still at it. We should be like New Zealand. The Aboriginal People there form the Gov't. I hope to spend most of the winter in the DR starting this year! Tommy. |

There you have it. Now, as I said before, much ado about nothing. We are ALL Earthlings. Just some peoples brains are a little slow to evolve. For those individuals: Grow up & evolve. Remove everyones skin & we're all the same! Tommy. Have fun, life on this planet is too short. |

I don't think I have seen you be in this group, but take a look at the pages and pages of trolling in this thread and you will see what I mean clearly. |

I have not even made a single statement about NA indigenous folk you sad old man, put your reading glasses on! I have even agreed with Tommy but you crave attention so bad you are lashing out at ... what?! who knows, but it is clearly disconnected form the subject of the thread. I'm not whining or even being negative. my life is going very well thank you, stop assuming. there is a topic being discussed here: indigenous history and identity. there are numerous examples in the thread of what I discussed. squint a bit harder and if you don't understand my words buzz off before you look any sadder. |
