I don’t know about that, he HELPED kill Trujillo, but many before him tried and they lost there lives trying. They are heroes to, they might have not succeeded but they gave there lives for us. He lead an army that killed Innocent Dominicans, he took orders from the CIA. Why do you think he killed Trujillo? He backed Balaguer. Edited on 12/4/2008 12:34 AM by chillaxin201. |

Quote: old_school_trinitario previously said: Quote: cibaeño75 previously said: "sorry but i don't think Antonio Imbert Barrera belongs on this list the man is a national hero" Yes he was among Trujillo's murderers but he was initmately tied to the coup that ousted Bosch, the constitutionally elected president in what was by all accounts a clean and fair election where Mr. Bosch got the vote of the overwhelming majority of the populace. Mr. Imbert betrayed the popular will of the Dominican people and the fragile democracy then in place, hence he is indeed a traitor. Cibaeño I disagree with your opinion on Imbert Barrera. The man put his life on the line to free the country of Trujillo’s dictatorship at a time when very few dare to try. And in regards of participating in Mr.Bosch removal from the presidency you have to consider Mr. Bosch intentions at the time for the future of the island after many years in exile right under the wing of Fidel Castro. In my opinion he helped save the republic from what could easily be a communist dictatorship and avoid the bloodshed that the countries such as Nicaragua, el Salvador and Colombia endured for decades. Besides Mr.Bosch turned out to be quiet a traitor himself when he sat on the table with his long time foe and torturer Balaguer to form a political marriage between his PLD & PRSC. Betraying his political foundation and the blood of hundreds of his party loyalist at the hands of Balaguer henchmen. "The man put his life on the line to free the country of Trujillo’s dictatorship at a time when very few dare to try." There where others, "In my opinion he helped save the republic from what could easily be a communist dictatorship and avoid the bloodshed that the countries such as Nicaragua, el Salvador and Colombia endured for decades." the war of 1965 was not about communism, but there where trained Leftist in the battle. like 1j4 Why do you think they praise Caamaño today? |

His time in power and his selling out part of our national territory to our principal enemy, and his decendants during the 19th century, can only be explain by the fact that HE WASN'T DOMINICAN... Heck, the country is as montainous as any of the islands of the japanese archipielago. The mountain range of La Selle (The Saddle), which was at one time called western Bahoruco, was the main refuge of many maroon groups during colonial times, the most famous one being the one of L'Amour Desrances, a chieftain that would be so cunning as to elude even the celebrated Toussaint L'Ouverture when this one attempted to capture him on behalf of the french authorities. GOD KNOW THEY NEED IT But today since they have it... thanks to that haitian Lili... they have enough to produce food for their next generation of poor, bordercrossing, savage citizens which is expected by 2050 to number 19,000,000 MILLION... Not counting those living in DR already It almost makes me cry........ almost |
