I understand the complaints of the Dominicans Yes the Dominicans are poor as well and they can not support Haiti but think of it like this you don't have enough but at least you have. Haiti doesn't have at all. Sure you might say its our fault that we are in this mess and at some extend it is our fault but like a wise man once said " If the neighbors house next to yours was on fire wouldn't you do everything you can to put the fire out so it doesn't burn yours or do you stop and think that maybe your neighbor was not being careful maybe that's why his house is on fire, of course your first reaction wouldn't to judge your neighbor but to put the fire out first right so then why can't we work together to help Haiti put its fires out so that the fire doesn't burn DR totally because if we do nothing it will only get worse.

All that unification would acheive is to pass on Haiti's problems to the other side of the island and no Dominican, at least any rational Dominican, wants any part of that.
