How is the subway a monorail? Mono= Single Rail=Rail Sub=Under Way=Passage The train is running in a single(tary) like rail like is shown in the picture as he perceived that its course would be only as shown; However, if this same monorail goes underground as part as its route because the prefix "sub" means under and way means passage, therefore "subway." If the course of this train in this picture had consistently and continuously been as shown in the picture for all its stops it would indeed be only a monorail. However because it also contains stops under terrain, ground and such, it qualifies as well Subway. Get it? |

I think I can tell the differernces netween the prefixes and suffixes of each word, but thank you for taking the time to teach me things I already know. Truly appreciate it! Anyways, the SD subway will have more than one single line. Below is a master plan of the SD Metro System: ![]() |

NOBODY has proven that it has achieved its objectives, and the pathetic ridership figures bear out my prediction that it was underanalysed, by a bunch of amateurs. nobody can show the effects on reduction of carbon particulates and traffic jams. it is the quintessential white elephant, and the government isn's smart enough to quit while it is behind. so, they will build all the lines, bankrupt the treasury with subsidies to keep it running, and it will not achieve the results it is supposed to. I seriously doubt it, dread (Merry Christmas, by the way) since there are worse offenders out there (Christian), which should have been kicked out by now, and have been given "carte blanche", so to speak. So enlighten the forum at pleasure, my friend. Edited on 12/24/2009 11:19 AM by Lautaro.

The subways construction as priority #1 by the present administraion leaving behind all others. True the construction is going ahead as must capitalinos see it on borrowed money ,but at what expense ? It is very easy to take all the treassury and put it to work for them in that particular project in a very irresponsable way, and use the nation as colateral .Why can't the capitalinos pay for their project out of their municipal budget? ,why must they use the national budget ? Am sure there are other things as you just mentioned above that are priority All these are subsidies by the central or national gvt for a few .The cost to ride the system will be beyond their income, specialy now when ZONA FRANCA and the industrial sector is pulling out due to lock of electric power to run their machinaries in the factories.that gave people jobs. How does this project helps the rest of the country?,aside of stealing electricity from the national grid to feed this capricious (L.F) igo and stupidity at the expense of bankrupting the central government. The Capital of a country is not the entire country, further more mass-transit is built for the poor mass as a mean of transportation to their jobs location and back. Unless multiple power plants are built along with the subways to supply it and atract investor on jobs creation, there is not need to continue this madness. All the mass transit of the world were built by their own respective local municipality wih their budget as the needs aroused and private enterpice. A good Example was the BMT in NYC made up of 15 private companies, untill the State bought them as they were going under and made it as known today as "BROOKLYN MANHATTAN TRANSIT". The IRT and the IND were built by the State and City of NY as needed in 1903 and 1935 respectively but they all had their power plant except the IND which purchased their power from PSE&G and LILco and CON EDISON, the latter became a distribution network aside of generating 25 cycles for the first two in 1959 with a frequecy converter.
