Thanx for the link antonio...what I find ironic about the name of the stations is that stations named after Amin Abel Hasbun and Camaano directly follow a station named after the man directly responsible for both their deaths, Joaquin Balaguer! Unbelievable. "To learn who rules over you simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize" - Voltaire |

On another note concerning individuals that stations were named after...Gregorio Urbano Gilbert Suero...until just very recently I knew nothing of this Dominican that fought along side that great Latin American patriot, Agosto Cesar Sandino. As a young man he actually went to where the Americans were disemabrking during the initial stages of their 1916 invasion and let off a shot at the first American he saw set foot on dry land! Ballsy indeed. "To learn who rules over you simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize" - Voltaire |

It's just part of progress, it's the step that the Dominican Republic is taking in order to eliminate transportation problems in the Dominican capital and also part of economic success! This is great, if I ever go to DR I will make a point to visit the Metro. Do they have a metro map available yet ? Congrat Yes they do, antonio, with all the other planned lines included. Two years down the road, only the very best are going to be able to compete and survive. trains will not be the answer; preparation , on the other hand, will. Pena Batlle is a hero of yours without you evening knowing it. He was an idealogue who pretty much worshipped all that was Spanish in Dominican culture and villified all that was not. He was extremely instrumental, along with Balaguer, in forming that particlar brand of hispanidad, with its anti-haitian elements, that both men dubbed "Dominicanidad". He held several posts under trujillo and died in the latter part of his regime. Edited on 1/2/2009 2:25 PM by cibaeño75.
