Competition in the airliner business hotting up as Airbus announces US plant. Good for DR!
New airliners use less fuel and efficient operators offer ever lower fares.

Announcement of new Airbus plant in US - they already have one in China should benefit DR tourism as airlines take delivery of more efficient aircraft such as A320neo.

Facilities are also getting better - I used Terminal 5 at London,s Heathrow for the first time recently. Other countries such as the DR will catch up quickly.

terminal 5 is where all the immigration problems occurred ..it is so far from the other terminals that it is best not to use ...and not nearly as good as the three main airports in DR .Boeing also are building more efficient planes ...and which I feel much safer flying in ..I do not believe that any airbus plaanes are assembled in China ,,I hope not

I think Airbus has assembled more than 100 planes in China. At terminal 5 Heathrow you can deposit baggage up to 3 hours before departure and you do not have to queue to check in.

Immigration problems will be solved at T5.

US airlines such as JetBlue with Airbuses serving the DR have not been doing badly; increasing services etc.

I hope Boeing catches up - in the airliner business competition is advantageous.

I have just been reading that Airbus produce planes in China ONLY for the chinese market ,,,so that is good news ,,
Regarding luggage , at most airports you can check in luggage much earlier than 3 hours ahead

Airbus A320 is of course safer than Boeing 737.
http://www.airsafe.com/events/models/rate_mod.htm
Avoid older 737 and the 747.
Take the train to the airport - road accidents are common and the rate in the US especially is twice that of many other countries.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/interactive/2011/nov/22/us-road-accident-casualties

http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/road-traffic-accidents/by-country/

Chinese assembled A320,s will find their way to second users and be used all over the World.

Most times you have to stand in line to check in luggage and the position only opens 2 or 3 hours before departure.

New generation planes such as A320neo will save fuel up to 10 million dollars worth each a year.
NOx pollution will be reduced near airports.

LEAP engine will be built in France but GE in the states a partner in CFM will produce assemblies in the US.

Soon to power the C919 Chinese airliner also.

Boeing would have to stop production for 3 years just to let Airbus catch up first.

If you took away the subsidies Airbus would slip into receivership faster than you can say "The A380 is a white Elephant"

Of course Boeing gets subsidies as well. Also massive profitable defense orders and has been caught overcharging.

aC should be happy that the lead customer for the A320neo is indeed a US airline dramatically expanding its fleet.

A380 is an exciting new concept in air travel and plane deliveries are only now having a major impact on air travel.

Malaysia, one of DR ,s competitors in the tourism business has just started A380 services. First is from London.

Malaysian tourism is increasing rapidly helped by such initiatives.

I expect tourist destinations such as DR to put pressure on airlines that have ordered A380 and other advanced equipment such as BA, Air France, Lufthansa use this aircraft on important tourist routes.

Boeing Co. (BA), bruised at the annual air show last year by the success of the Airbus SAS A320neo, is punching back with its 737 Max as the competing plane fails to win major contracts.

Boeing picked up an order for 75 aircraft valued at $7.2 billion from Steven Udvar-Hazy’s Air Lease Corp. (AL) on the first day of the Farnborough air show, while Airbus won one accord for four aircraft valued at about $453 million. The U.S. manufacturer is set to sweep the event, with one deal already done today and more to come.

Good that Boeing is catching up with the 737Max. Efficient planes are good for everyone. Virgin America will have its fleet of A320neo s - other airlines737Max somewhat later. Thai Air,s A380 fleet is to enter service on Europe routes in the next months - another DR competitor tourist destination to be served by the A380.
