It's baffling how comments on daily articles and forum threads are utilized by "the usual suspects" to defame or distort "our" heritage, and frankly "our" people as a whole. These "usual suspects" routinely hover around Dominican Today as if they were affected parties in our affairs. They are mostly:
Of all the above the most harmful to our interests are "The Provocateurs" (who have an axe to grind), whose main goal for camping out at DT is to destroy our image, and weaken morale. These "Provocateurs" are the same ones that perpetrate being pollitically correct, yet, they squeal and whine when a patriot-poster defends our cause, when he corrects their bombastic distortions of "our" issues, or when their impressions and opinions are burst like a bubble. Some of the distortions that can be categorized as "Sticks and Stones" may be encountered while viewing any topic. You might stumble upon the constant occurences of unfounded vulgarity, out-right aggression, and mean-spirit (mala fe) while reading comments about any DT article. Where do these people get offf slinging all this mud on our people? Why belabor the issue? Why such tenacity? Let it go, for goodness sakes. Why go out of your way with this prolonged "smear campaign"? We've stumbled upon, come face to face with, and encountered quite a variety of characters who are Hell-Bent on blowing up "our" spot. My conclusion is that several of these personalities are ignorant, have no place to vent their pent-up frustrations, and basically have a HIDDEN AGENDA behind their morbid motives. No one can argue "every topic" when it's not their concern? Unless the intent is to sling Sticks and Stones, and place obstacles in the midst of Dominicanos, Dominicanas, Quisqueyanos exchaging their ideas. These obstacles are obstruction to the freee exchange of thoughts between the brethren. I believe that Dominican Today is a forum for our peoples, La Familia en general, to promote "our" identity, "our" history. At the same time to promote the beauty of our tropical patria, our little piece of sovereign land. DT promotes Real Estate, pristine Golf courses, splendid beaches. I also believe that this is an outstanding venue to express our common hopes, and our aspirations. But still, some nefarious chronic posters have "gotten" into the habit of insulting our idiosynchracies. How do they get away with it? Beats me! But, when I come accross a potty mouth provocateur, you can be sure I will rectify 'em. How can anyone allow the type of smut that is slung upon "US" on many threads here? The Sticks and Stones are definitely out-of-place, here. If we stray off the topic, why must we always wind up in the mud? I'm for political correctness; But, I'm also for calling a spade a spade. Many different accusations are launched so I'm not clear in all cases who he's calling out...everyone? One thing I do agree with Arsenio about is the attitude of mean-spiritedness, but this is more an issue of the internet than of DT.com. |
