Visa is regularly refusing your online payments to company's abroad ? Visa does not proceed the payment but immediately withdraws this amount from your Bank Account ? Visa keeps your money for 1 week (Fondo reservado) before returning it to your Bank account ? Please let us know ! Visa Dominicana is doing this on a regular basis, "borrowing" millions of $ daily from their Clients. Visa claims they refuse your Payments because of suspicion of fraud ! Fraud from Amazon, Google, Paypal etc. ...yeah right ??? If they do not want to process the payment, what are they doing with your money for one week ? Edited on 1/14/2009 10:58 AM by leonardo. |

I believe this is a standard practice for all the credit/debit card processors, and even for banking accounts. It's a normal practice even outside the USA. For example, if you rent a car, they will put a hold on your credit card for as much as twice the value of your rental, it's a kind of 'insurance' for the car rental. By the way, a hold on a certain amount in your card is not really a withdrawal, it's just money that's been locked out. For my experience, I try not to use the debit card, specially since if someone clones it they'll steal YOUR REAL money. DaniDR Living in the Paradise |

The Situation with renting a car is completely different, The money they withhold is a deposit, in case you make an accident or any other damage to the car. Refusing a payment with your credit card is fine, but refuse it and don't keep the money for one week. And by the way; they are not really withholding your money, they taking it away from your account and return it a week later. Let's do this 1000 times a day with a few hundred $ each, do you have any idea how much interest they make with this monthly ? |

I know what boh of you mean, but reserving funds for seven days is highway robbery! Moreso, if you use a debit card, because eventhought the funds are not 'deducted' from your true balance, your available balance is reduced... i.e. you may incur in a returned item if the item does not unclear from their reservation..... Tlak to your bank i and if they dont compromise Change banks and use credit cards instaead ! Light, Sammy |

Most people come on a tourist visa and get a work visa once here. Applying for a work visa takes over 6 months to get. I doubt paying a guy $600 will get you a visa. But, that is just my opinion. |
