belly,
I have passed through SFM on my way from Santiago to Samana. Everyone was telling me to watch myself in SFM... Even asked an older taxi cab driver to let me know what was the best route to have less traffic in SFM... he told me and then said vete con mucho cuidado y no le pare a nadie... hay mucho tiguere que atracan en SFM... Is this true or are people making too much of this?

Not really the thing is people in SFM were use to sleeping with their doors open at night and now that they are not able to and most people think is really bad but if you compare to other cities is like child play. I was born and raised there never had any problem and we still have Junta de vecinos patrolling at night which makes it safer than most other areas. Of course just like in every place in DR you could be the back luck-duck in the middle of the jungle LOL but is pretty safe. If you look at the www.one.gob.do statistics about crime per capita we are not even on the top 20 cities with the high crime rate and we are the 3rd most important in the country that should tell you something. to put it simple is safer than Santiago and lot safer than la Capital

Yeah the night life in SFM is very good and what i like the most is people are always well dressed you won't see the sanky panky in shorts that i have seen in other places plus lots of good looking girls everywhere you look at some of the pictures in www.serie56.com and you will see.
