Bonao

Bonao is the capital of Monseñor Nouel province, Dominican Republic. It is located in the center of the country, to the northwest of the national capital Santo Domingo.
The city is known as "Villa De Las Hortensias". The name means Villa Of The Hortensias. The Hortensia Flower is the local flower of Bonao.

One of Bonao's greatest assets is its proximity to the magnificent Cordillera Central, the largest of the five mountain ranges in the DR. Which also features Pico Duarte, the Caribbean's highest pount.

The Monseñor Nouel province is bordered to the north and the west by the La Vega province, to the east by the Juan Sánchez Ramírez and Monte Plata provinces and to the south by the San Cristóbal and San José de Ocoa provinces.

The province was named after Archbishop Adolfo Alejandro Nouel, who was President of the Dominican Republic in 1912-1913.

I'm surprised by the relatively good standard of living it appears these Dominican cities have. They could use a good reorganization though. New wider sidewalks, the removal of some huge annoying billboards along with the burying of electric lines and some facades need to be cleaned/restored but otherwise it's not too bad. I like it, yumnuk, you rock man. Keep posting, this city has a nice core and beautiful people.

San Francisco is a very clean and well organized city that i'm proud we have been kept this way for so long and still just looking better everyday. The Javier family (stanley and julian) both have done a lot to educate the people to keep it this way.

belly,
I have passed through SFM on my way from Santiago to Samana. Everyone was telling me to watch myself in SFM... Even asked an older taxi cab driver to let me know what was the best route to have less traffic in SFM... he told me and then said vete con mucho cuidado y no le pare a nadie... hay mucho tiguere que atracan en SFM... Is this true or are people making too much of this?
