Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The White House has sacked the pro-life administrator for the USAID foreign assistance program so the agency can begin implementing President Barack Obama's pro-abortion policies. The move follows Obama rescinding the Mexico City Policy to allow taxpayer funding of groups that promote abortions overseas.

Today, the White House announced that it has it has replaced Kent Hill, the acting Administrator of USAID under President Bush.

Hill has been replaced with Alonzo Fulgham, the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Secretary of the agency and will head up the Office of the Administrator of USAID until a permanent successor is named.

Hill had been a friend of the pro-life movement in overseeing the Mexico City Policy.

He held weekly phone calls with Rep. Chris Smith, the leading pro-life Congressman who has fought for limits on international abortion funding. Hill also worked closely with Austin Ruse, the president of the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute, a pro-life group that lobbies at the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the USAID office issued a statement Monday indicating that it is implementing the reversal of the Mexico City Policy.

"USAID is implementing this change immediately and issued an official notice informing its field offices worldwide," the agency said in the statement LifeNews.com obtained. "Additional specific guidance for USAID agreements officers will be issued later today."

"His announcement directed USAID to immediately waive the policy's conditions in any current grants; notify current grantees, as soon as possible, that these conditions have been waived; and cease imposing these conditions in any future grants," the agency said.

That means USAID will immediately send notice to Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International, two abortion businesses that refused to comply with the previous rules under President Bush restricting foreign aid to non-abortion activities, that they are now eligible for funding.

The agency said it is "strongly committed to achieving" Obama's goals of shifting family planning dollars to groups that promote and perform abortions and said it supported repealing the pro-life protections.

"Repealing the Mexico City Policy will help improve the lives of mothers and children through increased access to family planning services and supplies," it claimed.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- On Friday, President Barack Obama rescinded the Mexico City Policy, a Bush protection that preventing forcing taxpayers to finance groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. Obama claims the Mexico City Policy somehow stood in the way of funding family planning efforts, even though the policy only prevented family planning dollars from going to pro-abortion groups.

"It is clear that the provisions of the Mexico City Policy are unnecessarily broad and unwarranted under current law, and for the past eight years, they have undermined efforts to promote safe and effective voluntary family planning in developing countries," he said.

Obama also cast his decision to fund international abortions and abortion efforts as a way to find common ground in the abortion debate.

"For too long, international family planning assistance has been used as a political wedge issue, the subject of a back and forth debate that has served only to divide us," Obama said. "I have no desire to continue this stale and fruitless debate."

"It is time that we end the politicization of this issue. In the coming weeks, my Administration will initiate a fresh conversation on family planning, working to find areas of common ground to best meet the needs of women and families at home and around the world," he said.

But for the majority of Americans who take a pro-life position on abortion and oppose funding abortion efforts with public money, the debate will continue.

Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council said pro-life advocates will look to restore the policy should they regain control of either the White House or Congress.

Perkins also accused Obama of ducking media coverage of his decision to fund international abortions.

"Of course, it was no accident that the new president postponed the act until the last possible minute on Friday, knowing the repeal would be buried in the weekend headlines," he told LifeNews.com. "Issuing it now means that even the presidential blackberry will get more media coverage than his international abortion bailout."

"The end of Mexico City is nothing less than a tragedy for the world's poor," he said.

Gary Bauer also chimed in and said Obama's executive orders are confusing.

"In a time of great economic anxiety and surging budget deficits, is forcing American taxpayers to subsidize abortion really such a high priority for the new administration or the best use of our resources?" he asked.

"And I can't help but be perplexed and disappointed by the irony of extending rights to terrorists while committing American tax dollars to the destruction of innocent life," he said.

Look at this scenario,

The US has by far more soldiers in harm's way then they are terrorists in harm's way. Let's say we don't abide by the Geneva Convention, that's start a precedence.

I have people over in Iraq and some that may go. I couldn't imagine what they would have to go through if they're held captive and the most powerful nation in the world publicly subscribes to torture and other abuses of prisoners.

Mind you, it's not a perfect world, but, somebody has to take a stand. Torture has always been used, but, with the exposure of abuses at Guantanamo Bay, you can't look the other way.

Then, when we accuse our "enemies" of being inhumane....

I'm not naive to believe that every nation can achieve peace, but, when you have enemies, do not misconstrue why they are your enemies and if it's a transgression of yours that have caused them to be your enemies, by all means suck it up.

If it's war you want. it's war you gonna get.

For instance, I made a reference to the "streets" in an earlier post. Many neighborhood gangs started as a vehicle to protect themselves from danger and end up being in more danger by forming gangs.

No one thought that calling a truce would be a better solution.
