I am seriously evaluating the possibility of being executive producer of an actualized documentary about the Haitian invasion of 1804 and need facts from different sources. I need historical facts and events, with detailed descriptions, both from the Haitian side as well as Dominican side. References to publications even in French, and maps as well. No hearsay or opinions please unless they can be substantiated. Anyone who wants to contribute to this project is welcome if you have previous experience in acting, production, cinematography, video cameras, stage building, costume design, generating sponsors, Edited on 2/7/2009 11:21 AM by generoso. I'll be a happy consumer of any DR historical material if it is solid quality but just saying... Edited on 2/7/2009 2:10 PM by Manhattanite. |

You should include the event in the Church in Moca. This event should include the rape of innocent young Dominican girls by Haitians and their subsequent death....One thing I can tell, you gonna have plenty of material, I volunteer myself to assist you. P o M. Interesting enough ? arkatype I would love to know about that period, certainly that was not emphasized so much in school, the original Haitians army were brutal, and even worse during the papa Doc regime, I am not condoning the actions however war is always painful, and torture are bound to happen on any side, look at the sitituation in abugabre, guantanamo ect.. I think some kind of apology is needed from the Haitian government to close that dark chapter in the History of the island Edited on 2/7/2009 10:37 PM by antonioj. Have anyone of you heard about the assassination of the Andujar family by the haitian soldiery? While this dark episode happened during Boyer's occupation in 1822, it's still pertinent to mention it on the issue at hand. Check this out: http://www.idg.org.do/capsulas/marzo2007/marzo200717.htm Any thoughts about this? Edited on 2/7/2009 10:10 PM by Lautaro. The Dessaline invasion was the brutal one, Boyer invasion was somewhat peaceful and supportive by the population please shed some lights Lat To tell you the truth, antonio, I was ignorant about this incident, only getting wind of it after a friend of mine mentioned seeing it on a folk tale book called "Cosas Añejas". I'll kept you posted about anything that I can dig up about the incident. Edited on 2/7/2009 10:54 PM by Lautaro.
