The tax will be determined based on what Customs says the items are worth. Thats not true, receipt is a proof of buying. Your tax will be accorind to the receipt and comared with local price here. ITBIS is 18% of the price on the receipt/bill. The problem is that the customs duty (arancel) is based on the value that is specified on the books. DaniDR Living in the Paradise |

There is so much misinformation being given to him. Richard, I have lived here for many years and own a business here and I import things for the business. My strong recommendation to you is forget bringing anything in. There are many stores here now just as good as the US and you can buy what you want. Customs CAN charge what they like and often do and cheat folk. There are ways round it but its not worth it for the little you want to bring in. Go to Stgo and SD and see all the new stores and what they have to offer. Good luck. dreamteamdownloads1.com |

A receipt is proof of purchase, yes. It has absolutely nothing to do with the value set by customs for tax purposes. You can show them a receipt for 500 dollars for a TV, but if their books shows a value of 1500 dollars, you'll pay taxes on the 1500 dollar value. The receipt you show is not taken into consideration in any way, shape, or form. |

Consulta de Aranceles de esta pagina, dime Dread, como funcciona? Para decir a gringo cuanto va pagar su LCD. Sir, you can buy here LCD tvs as well. |

Otherwise, you will pay 20% out of the price from your bill, which is a proof of payment. Customs can find that your TV costs more, but thats their problem. |
