It isn't farfetched to guess maybe traffic has decreased lately. The same opinions & snide comments are rehashed endlessly by four or five members, and perhaps casual/lurking visitors have lost interest. Commentary is nice to read when there are 10-25 comments, even including the gags and provocative statements. But few people besides the combatants are going to care for repetitious 100+ comment discussions, especially when past the the first couple dozen they degenerate into the same stupid left vs right or DR vs Haiti battles. It'd be no problem to just leave them to their deices but maybe these have gotten so cliche and insulting that casual readers are turned off and don't return. The other answer may be that those threads are simply too much of a burden on the servers, either because the combatants are checking in too often or because the technology can't handle that many entries in a stable manner. Anyway only the editors know, so unless they make a statement for us we remain in the dark... Edited on 2/19/2009 11:10 AM by Manhattanite. |

What's up with Dominican Today closing threads, especially when they're hot with posters? I mean, if that's the case then why even have that option? It's BS DT. Stop it and let the number of posts go where they may. What about the mods deleting posts and not even telling posters why the deleted them? For example, there was a thread, something about a chica, an apartment and a gringo, where the thread went off-topic but the 'off topic' was much more interesting than the original "theme" and it was getting alot of traffic. Then, all of a sudden, instead of telling us to get back on topic, a bunch of posts where deleted without explanation. I even wrote the mod asking why some off-topic posts were deleted and some weren't and still no reply. Fine, I know they have a job to do but at least have the courtesy to let us know why some were and some weren't. Edited on 2/19/2009 11:35 AM by TuPapaupa.
