Tupapaupa, the name of the club was Bella Blu. it was owned by a foreigner, if my reports are correct. Pedro Guerrero, who could have bought the club with the change in his pocket, was disallowed entry, along with his entourage. but just go and read carefully the tenor of Gizmo's response, and you will see what i am talking about. he offers that the owners perceive on occasion that certain people will be disruptive, and therefore, for security reasons, bar them access. EXACTLY, Gizmo!! again, do you believe that if it was a group of white businessmen from Norway, they would have said "no dice"? they are predisposed to believe that blacks will tear up the place. i hardly believe that a man with Pedro's financial wherewithal was riding around dressed like a ghetto thug. you have to stop with this denial thing, and face the truth. do you believe that the US consulate officials, who were banned on 2 seperate occasions from Santo Domingo nightclubs, had some threatening personnae? and, are you aware that white USA military personnel have a dismal record when it comes to trashing clubs in foreign countries? do you believe that we would ban a bunch of caucasian american soldiers from a nightclub? if not, why not?

Yes, that was the name of it.

Thank God it's history now.

Back in the days, a cousin who has a practice nearby (en la Pasteur) always wanted to take me there.

Knowing it's reputation, I always declined.

Not because I am white (or black), rather because I am not a racist and visiting such place would seem like I am condoning their racist policy.

Gizmo Listen if i own a club i have the right to set the standards of who enters in and who can't come in "is that clear enough for you." Maybe we could allow drug dealers to peddle their drugs inside the club, why not that's not a problem????? According to Dreadlocks anyone can enter even a stinking bum..... Don't you get it!!!!! In a civilized environment you can't allow certain people. Maybe you're mad because you tried and tried and they finally punched you in the belly and gave you two purple eyes? That's not our problem move on.

This site is very engaging, and fun. If you feel people are not posting as before, perhaps they trying to brake away from this addicting site.
I think you are turning off some people.

popon if I'm turning people off then this is the first I've heard of it. There is no question at least one person was turned off by the elements I mentioned, and that is the editor who chose to close the threads. From where you stand maybe those are the most pressing discussions. Have no fear, we have seen that the topic will resurface here in the forum even when there are no articles about Haiti on the main page. Nothing I mentioned is about turning away from issues, it has been about the approach to discussion that turns many discussions around this issue too ugly to leave ongoing.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

Gizmo, i guess you cannot really see what i am talking about, so it is pointless to talk with you. i am not aware of Dominican policy, but i can assure you that in the USA ,if you apply for, and receive, public licenses like a liquor license, you cannot discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, or any such characteristic. nobody asserted that people should let in bums and drug dealers. you seem to make a linkage between them and black people. which of those groups does, or did, Guerrero belong to? do you believe they thought he was there to sell drugs? if so, why would they arrive at that conclusion about him, but not about the whites they allowed in on the same night? or, maybe this multi-millionaire ballplayer looked to them like a drunken bum? why is that? having read your prior offerings, i am not bemused that you hold such beliefs. i have no difficulty understanding why you defend racist policies. if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

RE: What's up with DT?
furthermore ,Gizmo, your speculation about me trying to gain entry until they took violent steps to discourage me is something i would expect from a mind such as yours. a nightclub might be important enough to you to become a crusade: i have better things to do than listen to idiotic music and jostle drunks. if i am going to fight to enter a club, or other place of diversion, you can rest that the music will not be played by some DJ in a tank top, with befuddling hairstyle, and some catchy moniker. it will be played live by someone called Winton Marsalis, Teruo Nakamura, Roy Hargrove, or someone like that. different strokes, my good man. and, by the way, since when is a nightclub "a civilised environment"?

i guess that is what Martin Luther King should have said. "let's just go to another country, because they do not want us here". or , maybe , Rosa Parks should have just walked, instead of demanding her right to sit anywhere she wanted to on the bus. by the way, am i referring to people with whom you are unfamiliar? GOOGLE can help you make contact with their significance.

Such a great argument Dread..... and it's beyond me that Gizmo can not see the light, you have gently walk him thru the discussion in the hope that, he would have gained some understanding to no avail.

It take a strong man to admit that he's wrong, and a coward to deny it. It's interesting these particulars flawed reasoning remind me of Arkatype/LightofTruth now Gizmo.
