GIZMO
Quinta Parte.....

GIZMO For those that think that i might perhaps be lying about the above haitian military flag look at this video, and tell me if what i posted above is false. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzC3IAfTEJI

I'M MAKING MY KIDS READ THIS POST.

Guys excellent work with regards of our founding father
As a Dominican living in a self inposed financial excile in the U.S, I could tell you how hard is to keep your next generation glue to your cultural and historical background.

I grew up Idolazing Duarte as a Simbol of who we are as a nation and as individuals. His life is a text book on unity, perseverance and valor.

Unfortunatly we as a society have stray away from his teachings and Ideals but @ the same time is refreshing to see that there are Dominicans like me who still have unconditional love and respect for the ultimate Dominican.

Juan Pablo Duarte

RE: Juan Pablo Duarte Founder Of The Dominican Republic
I see that most Dominicans seem to ignore the part where Haiti had helped them after even DR's independence in fighting off the Spaniards. So I leave you with this to regress on:

"General Gregorio Luperón, The Restoration War hero and later President of the Republic... In 1861, after imprisoning, silencing, exiling, and executing many of his opponents and due to political and economic reasons, Santana signed a pact with the Spanish Crown and reverted the Dominican nation to colonial status, the only Latin American country to do so. His ostensible aim was to protect the nation from another Haitian annexation. But opponents launched the War of the Restoration in 1863, led by a group of men including Santiago Rodríguez and Benito Monción, among others. General Gregorio Luperón distinguished himself at the end of the war. Haitian authorities, fearful of the re-establishment of Spain as colonial power on their border, gave refuge and supplies to Dominican revolutionaries. The United States, then fighting its own Civil War, vigorously protested the Spanish action. After two years of fighting, Spain abandoned the island in 1865."

I do not see any Dominicans expressing Haiti's support for DR and Haiti's hard stance against Spain when by 1863 Spain was exercising pressure on Haiti to cede its territories to Spain or pay a large sum as indemnity to the point this have made Haitian president Fabre Geffrard give up his strictly neutral position and backed with loyal support the Dominican resistance against Spain. This Haitian support was an important help to a new group under the leadership of Gregorio Luperón, as they could use Haitian territory as a base of operations. Nor have any Dominicans even errect threads to mention how Haiti had even help Juan Pablo Duarte along with some other liberal Haitians who physically fought side by side with Dominicans to stir off some of the Haitian invasions towards DR. In 1843 the revolution made a breakthrough, while working with a liberal Haitian party, they overthrew President Boyer. Unfortunately, the Trinitarios work in the overthrow was noticed by Boyer’s replacement, Charles Riviere-Hérard. Rivière-Hérard imprisoned some Trinitarios and forced Duarte to leave the island. While gone, Duarte searched for support in Colombia and Venezuela, but was unsuccessful. In December 1843, the rebels told Duarte to return since they had to act quickly because they were afraid the Haitians had learned of their insurrection plans. When Duarte had not returned by February (because of illness), the rebels decided to take action anyways with the leadership of Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, Ramón Mella, and by Pedro Santana, a wealthy cattle-rancher from El Seibo who commanded a private army of peons who worked on his estates.

P.S: What, they do not teach Dominicans that in DR schools or something? Or do they just selectivelly ignore these factual events ever taken place which are parts of the Island's history and rather instead have chosen to teach the resented hatred for Haiti so that no signs of peace to ever flourish between the two nations?

I WOULD NEVER DISRESPECT ANY FOREFATHERS OF ANY NATIONS BECAUSE, REGARDLESS OF THE PAST DIFFERENCES, MISTAKES MANY NATIONS AT WAR MAY HAVE MADE OR MAY HAVE RAGED THIER STRUGGLES FOR; THERE SHOULD BE RESPECT TO THEIR BRAVE VALORS IN ACCOMPLISHING WHAT THEIR STRUGGLES MEAN TO THEM AND THEIR PEOPLE.

You were comparing Jean Jacques Dessalines with Juan Pablo Duarte and now you are saying you dont disrepect other forefathers. Can i call you Afro-Fake. thats a more appropiate name for you.

Now my thinking of Juan Pablo Duarte is quick and simple.
"great countries start with great men and moral values."

I don't think DR could have asked or found a better man that my personal hero.
Juan Pablo Duarte. "freedom or death"
"He who does not learn from history is doomed to repeat it."
