Quote: Sajomero previously said: I was born en Santiago, en el hospital...My mother's family is from La Cuesta De San Jose De Las Matas, a small farming town on the slopes of la Sierra just 20 minutes away from Santiago. We are Peralta, Nunez, Rodriguez..Our Peralta's had the peculiarity of using the names Jose Sinencio, an name that I've found used in Moncion. We can trace back our ancestors in that region back to the early 1800's from my little research ..My family tree is more like a forest..lol..My great grand father had 36 offsprings which also migrated to la Capital, Jamao, Moca, Los Bueyes and even as far as Boya. My father's family is from Discayagua, a small village near Janico. We are Hernandez, Aybar, Guzman, Lora. My great grand father Amelio Aybar, still spoke with a Spanish lisp when I et him at age 92. My grand father Hernandez(Lora) looked more like his mother who came from that area, a slender dark skinned man with straight hair, resembling a native American rather than a "Dominican." Taino blood is very strong on that side. Most of my relatives from there are called Indians, Pakistanis, Mexicans, and everything else in the book..lol...Some famous relatives include the artist Nico Lora and everybody's favorite cardinal Nicki.....lol Part of my family also comes from san Jose de las matas. My last name, estevez, is from there . According to the DNA studies that I have mentioned on other threads, san Josde de las matas is one of the areas with the hghest percentages of Native american descent. Baracutei |

Where exactly is that? It officially belongs to the ends of Tamboril (border to Tamboril and Monteadentro). It's where one of the first men that ever tried to kill Trujillo (Enrique Blanco) was from. You can easily get to it from Licey or Santiago. |
There's a small book about the incident that I'm trying to get a hold of. The rumor is that he was upset that Trujillo called him gay (to put it in nice terms) because he had long hair which apparently was unacceptable back then. |
Alot of "things" have been said about why Enrique Blanco was mad at Trujillo, a few of them told to me by my father and many others by friends, relatives and a book I read about him so many years ago I don't even remember when. Don't have much time now so perhaps other Dominicans can tell you some of those "things" before I put my 2 cheles. Let's just say the guy killed alot of Dominicans when he worked for Trujillo, and many after. I'll tell you the version I believe later, perhaps after others, like Lautaro, pongan sus dos centavos..
