Alot of "things" have been said about why Enrique Blanco was mad at Trujillo, a few of them told to me by my father and many others by friends, relatives and a book I read about him so many years ago I don't even remember when. Don't have much time now so perhaps other Dominicans can tell you some of those "things" before I put my 2 cheles. Let's just say the guy killed alot of Dominicans when he worked for Trujillo, and many after. I'll tell you the version I believe later, perhaps after others, like Lautaro, pongan sus dos centavos..
I don't think that many people are familiar with his story. His attempt was very early on in Trujillo's regime, and the fame (or infamy) of people like him has been opaqued by that of others like the Mirabal sisters. If the "things" are that serious, you can send me a PM. It would be interesting to discuss. |

Like I said before, I don't have the time now and perhaps the "Lautaros" of the site can put their 2 cents before I put mine. BTW, in my opinion, and this only my opinion, his name shouldn't be mentioned on the same paragraph the Mirabal sister's name was mentioned. They were in different leagues. Not only I don't have time now, but maybe Cabaeno would much rather you start a new thread on the topic than have you and I hijack his thread. I would make an interesting topic for those who knows nothing about him. My family is from Montecristi, in the province of Montecristi, the home of Manolo Tavarez Justo. Founded in 1501 and became a city in 1895. It was one of the most important 18th century ports for shipping vast quantaties of mahagony and a 19th century major producer and exporter of salt, corn, rice, beans and timber to Europe. It is the driest region and the sea around it is believed to hold 179 sunken galleons. The home of Manolo Tavarez Justo is on the corner of Santiago Rodrigiez and Pt. Hernandez, and was where he and Minerva lived and revolutionary activities began. The home of Cuban liberator Maximo Gomez still stands on Calle Mella. Edited on 3/17/2009 9:31 AM by miisshiiscamp0s. |

No, just a Dominican history geek! LOL I also have a special interest in the plight of so many strong Dominicans against the monster Trujillo; Manolo Tavarez Justo, Mirabal sisters, and all of those of the Fourteenth of June Movement. And I am just in love with Montecristi |
