RE: Haitians make up 24% of patients
I wonder how the Haitian diaspora (the ones in Canada, USA & France) feel about this and what there thoughts are. I really can't rely on the posts I've read on Haitian forums (not much positivity) to get a realistic understanding.
Also I'm in agreement with the posters here regarding many (on both sides as well as foreigners) using the 'race card'. The thing is, despite the exact or worst situation illegal Haitians immigrants have on other Caribbean islands, it seem's as if the race card is never used. Why the double standard? It's obvious to anyone this is not a matter of race, is it because it get's more attention?
And does the CBC ever visit the Bahamas or other islands to investigate the treatment of Hatians?

Lautaro, really do you think that “the main Haitian problem is overpopulation”? Come on, Big Man, you cannot be serious!
Look at the Haitian history again. You are going to find the most evil upper class in this world ruling a country for more than two centuries. That is one of the main Haitian problems: its extremely perverse upper class.
Those Haitian riches are the greatest sons of a bitch in this world. They do not care about their people. Their schools, their medical care, their food, their political stability and all those things are not their problems (even their environment and their natural resources) and they only want one thing: a greater fortune. They usually have a strong presence in other countries (first word countries, of course) and only use Haiti as a source of more monetary funds.
What word can you use for people that have everything and steal even the donations to the people that do not have anything? Beasts, dogs, monsters… no, there is no word.
But the must important problem is this: Haiti is an orphan country. Haitians act as if their problems were the problems of somebody else.
A great and wonderful Haiti must be the result of the Haitians efforts and you can find Haitians talking about “Haiti Chéri”, talking about “I am proud to be Haitian” and even dreaming about a better Haiti, but nobody inside that country or outside that country wants to make any sacrifices for getting a better future.
Sometimes I look to the Haitians who are doing really hard jobs eight hours a day among us and usually I ask them this: If the young and strong Haitians are here and pretend to stay here the rest of their lives, who is going to do the social and physical work that is needed in the Western part of our island? Who are going to build a new Haiti, a prosperous Haiti? Nobody knows and as far as you can see in the horizon the man or the men or the woman or the women are not coming yet.
Their overpopulation is the result of the most promiscuous life that you can imagine. Everybody like to fornicate (and I emphasize that I am not talking about to make love) and everybody would like to do it at any time and at any place but you have to think in other things too (we are not rabbits and all of us want to take good care of our babies). Well, Haitians do not have that problem (the ones of the overpopulation). They actually do it at any time and at any place (for example their use every possible space in the construction sites where they work –inside and outside–) and it does not matter what happens after that. I have heard that they have a “very active sexual life” (everyone would like that kind of “very active sexual life”) but actually they have the most irresponsible sexual life in this world. Haitian men can penetrate all the Haitian vaginas that they want (as they actually do) but you must know what you are going to do with your babies if those are the consequences of your happy and wonderful life. Haitian women really enjoy sex, but other women enjoy sex too and they do not tackle sex in a so irresponsible way.
But with overpopulation or without overpopulation there is no good future for Haiti with that fucking upper class and without good and noblemen and noblewomen Haitians who really take care of their country.

Maybe we have discovered a new source of income potential for Haitian men, they can become studs!
Imagine all the over 40 lonely and rejected women, with means, that can hire a Haitian by the hour to service them.
Maybe that could be a possible solution to end the Haitian poverty. LOL.

It is not as simple as that, as very simple people lack the discipline and education to do other things, and they do what comes natural to them. And that is sex. Whatever and whenever.
But Lautaro's point is very important as well. Experts agree on the overpopulation problems worldwide, even in the USA, if you measure it another way, not just by amount of citizens that inhabit a particular area but by many other factors as well.
The Catholic church and religious authorities have been no help to control overpopulation in Haiti as well as in the DR, and it is estimated that Haiti could function better with 30% less inhabitants.
30% that's almost 3 million Haitians! That are considered unnecessary and a burden.
But the reality is that the population keeps growing and hunger keeps growing as well, so nature
if not man will find a solution, and the solution will inevitably bring death and destruction.
Ignorance is temporary, stupidity lasts forever.

RE: Haitians make up 24% of patients
Since 1804 there is no real important prosperity in the Western part of our island.
In all these years you are going to find a very, very rich upper class (ever) and a country where who is not stealing is wishing to do it in the future (for example, Jean Bertrand Aristide was one day a very poor boy walking in the Haiti’s streets –obviously he got his fat cows too–).
Overpopulation is a more recent phenomenon and even without that overpopulation you are going to have the same mess. With that fucking upper class there in no future for Haiti.

And I am talking specifically about sexual promiscuity; it is an important additional factor in their poor situation.
The Haitian sexual life is very intensive (too intensive for a country in those conditions). It must be remembered that Haitian women even have special arts and it is said that those arts work extremely well.

RE: Haitians make up 24% of patients
The Haitian and Dominican workers are brothers and sisters sharing the same island which originally was one nation called HAYTI, QUISQUEYA or BOHIO by the People who inhabited the land before the European burglars and thieves came. The Haitian Revolution was a major source of generous support for the Independence of all the Latin American countries. For this, the major European powers and the United States have been punishing Haiti politically, economically and militarily since its birth. We have suffered 3 U.S. occupations already.
I think it is a positive thing that Haitian patients are treated in a Dominican hospital. Why are some people making a big fuss over that like the sky is falling? Just like Haitian immigrants, there are Dominican immigrants all over the world receiving the same care. Healthcare is a HUMAN RIGHT not a privilege. And as for those who are talking about "illegal immigration", this term has a direct link with racism and is anti-human. Humans have a natural tendency to migrate from place to place since antiquity. No one can stop it. Racists and barbarians are trying to put a stop to it but to no avail. NO ONE IS ILLEGAL! The Planet is ours to build, protect and enjoy together in peace. Many of the people posting here are actually living in other countries. Would you like to be treated the way some of you are insinuating Haitian Immigrants should be treated in the Dominican Republic? LOVE YOUR NEIGHBORS AS YOU LOVE YOURSELVES! TREAT YOUR NEIGHBORS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED!

well, how would you answer to the idea of 2 million Dominicans wandering over the border into Haiti? do you believe that the ecosystem could support such a condition? this is not a matter of sentiment, or altruism, or being my "brother's keeper". it is the reality of the situation. each human being needs a minimal amount of resources on which to survive. the concentration of the bare minimum is reduced by the number of people relying on a fixed amount of resources. this is not chinese algebra; it is really simple. it has nothing to do with racism, nor cold heartedness, nor a lack of God in one's heart. and, where is the Haitian government's responsibility for making that country a habitable place for more of its people?

GIZMO PeRod good post, the Haitian dilemma has it's source within the small mulatto elite that has forever exploited the majority black Haitian populace. That's where the saying peasant derives from, you might here some Haitians that are most likely black as night, hurl at Dominicans on this forum. What people might not understand is the fact that Haiti's history is one of racial divisiveness. The country even became divided in 1806 i believe, between the majority Blacks and the small mulatto minority. This country is and has been the poster child of racism right after the U.S.A. but Anti-Dominicans try hard to ignore this reality.

GIZMO You're wrong mr.!!!!! We have no obligation towards a country that's been irresponsible since day one. The second independent nation in the western hemisphere is also the poorest. How can that be, it takes a nation with a legacy of tyrants to reach such lows and Haiti has reached that negative goal. Dominicans should not allow this continual abuse to abhor it's sovereignty.

GIZMO
Be careful! You are mixing up apples and oranges. The relationship between the Haitian and Dominican Peoples goes beyond the language you are using to try to define the problem. Our two Peoples share some of the same problems. It is to their benefit to look for common solutions toward a common FUTURE. For example, both Peoples are exploited by two ferocious, blood-thirsty ruling classes (Elites). The two countries sharing the island are dominated by imperialist countries setting them one against the other. Both countries are poor. The majority of the People on both sides of the island are oppressed by those elites and imperialists. It behooves the Haitian and Dominican masses to work together and fight their common enemies who are trying to divide and conquer. Get out of the ideological mess to see more clearly the BROTHERHOOD AND SISTERHOOD among the Haitian and Dominican Peoples.
