Kari, why would you want to do that?.

MOST Dominican movies, IN MY OPINION, suck!.

Now, Dominican documentaries, well, that's another story......especially if about Trujillo, Balaguer, Duarte, the Mirabal sisters or any Dominican personality from "yesterday".

Like they say, "cada cabeza es un mundo" and "para el gusto se hicieron los colores" so as long as you like them, that's all that matters.

Me, I wouldn't watch one even if "they" pay me. JAJAJA.

Can't agree more, brodel. I think that the factor that plays against them is the fact that the majority tend to be comedies, a thing which tends to downplay the novelty that they might possess on their opening.

RE: Dominican Movies
I think that the most important lesson that our moviemakers need to learn is the fact that they have to put quality first instead of quantity. It doesn't matter if make 1,000 movies per year if the majority of them end up sucking mightily. Another thing is that they need to learn that there are other genres that could gather more attention (and quick buck) other than comedy.

Man, you would be amazed how many Dominicans love those crappy movies made over there.

A friend of mine asked me If I wanted to watch "Sanky Panky" and I said "Noooooo, but I'll pay you 25 dollars if you don't ask me again".........to which she replied:

"Darn it, I wanted another person to suffer as I suffered watching this stupid movie". JAJAJA.

RE: Dominican Movies
Walking around NYC you find spots that sell a lot of local movies from different Spanish nations...so many look like they lack sorely in production quality, so Dominicans aren't alone. I'm surprised no city on the whole continent or the islands has become a sort of Spanish-speaking Hollywood. As Laut mentioned elsewhere there is certainly a huuuuge audience (300+ mm), but you have to bring something more than comedies based on the local flavor.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

In my opinion, the only country that redeems the latin american name (and it's not even a spanish speaking nation, mind you) is Brazil. The quality of their movies, TV series and soap operas is really a 5 star thing. Have any of you seen Cidade de Deus (City of God) or Mandrake?
