Governors in the DR - do they exist?
My daughter came home from School today with an assignment that required the help of the Internet. She is 9 and learning about the political system here in the DR.

Her question is who is the Governor of the "Districto Natonal / Santo Domingo Province", where does he live and what is he responsible for. The third question is pretty straight forward, but as to who he/she is and where he/she lives...I am at a loss...

Now I know many of you will be saying, "This clown wants us to do his kid's homework", but truth be told, I have spent the last 45 minutes rummaging through Google, Wikipedia, State Department databases, one.gov.do, InfoPlease.com and presidencia.gob.do...not to mention searches on the major DR news sites, as well as here and DR1...

Either this government post does not exist (although I'm pretty sure it does because each province has one according to most sources) or it is the best kept secret in the DR...

If anybody can help me, my daughter would be so gracious...

Thanks a ton!!!

Unlike the provinces, the executive authority in the Distrito Nacional and the Santo Domingo province is exercised by their respective sindicos (on the DN case this being Roberto Salcedo, and on Santo Domingo province is Juan De Los Santos). As for their whereabouts, I can't help you on that score, but I assume that they live on their respective districts.
