Venezuela officially has the highest min. wage in Latin America (30% increase)
Quote:

¡Felicitaciones a nuestros obreros, a nuestros sindicatos!"

Its also important to add that the majority of Venezuelans have access to free health care, guaranteed education (which has seen a enrollment rate increase by more than 20% on all levels) and subsidized food which is benefiting a majority of the working-class Venezuelans.

Time,

Go there and see everyone selling empanadas and arepas on the streets. They are now classified as "Gainfully employeed" by the government. However, they pay no IVA on thier sales, the pay no IVSS for themselves or co worker if they have one (usually a family member) or do they pay utilidades etc.. The 18,000 ex-PDVSA employees he fired after the general strike in 2002 are blacklisted from any job with a connection to the government. Go to Pitare, Catia, Catia la Mar, La Vega all in Caracas. Go to La Ponderosa, El Vinedo, Troncal, Boyaca in Puerto la Cruz / Barcelona and tell me that you see everyone working a JOB. When you trade something you have for something you need that is bartering not employment!!!

I hope that Venezuela succeeds; they are a modal to Latin America.
You can and will say that Socialist economies do not work. But we all know from the current situation in the U.S. is that Capitalism is not working either.
I know of people, whom made Capital, wealthy and lived the good life,
But they lost it all when they our loved became ill.
I know, we all went to be rich, but for one to be rich hundreds most be poor and suffer.

Chill,

Only thing I can say is that he (Chavez) has been in power for 10 years now and things are far worse off now than when he took office.

worse off for whom, Texasshoe? you mean every single soul in the country, or juts the types who were living large before he got there? i know you have republican inclinations, and you believe that the best way to better the lives of people is to make the rich richer. well, maybe that is not exactly correct. i love you free market types; leave me alone when i am doing great, but, when i screw up, bail me out, at taxpayers expense. if this was 1789, heads would be rolling in the streets of new york!

That's the same question I have been asking myself, dread, cuz' if Chavez were as bad as they put, he would not have won all of those elections on this decade, electoral fraud or not.
