He already is a dictator
Mira,

Aptly put. When he refused to renew the broadcast license of RCTV he thought he was rid of the "opposition", they then moved to cable or Direct TV. The bigger issue is when he controls cable broadcasts or on DirectTV it too is broadcast to other Latin american countries that host that channel. Globavision continues its anti-socialism broadcasts and lo and behold beofre he shuts them down this new law takes effect basically closing all options at "FREEDOM" of expression and SPEACH. I was just recently there and it is a very dangerous place as I explained to my in-laws, Chavez lets this happen to a point where only the military can quell the issue and once on the street, they will never go away.

To ABC- no amount of bamboo furniture or toilet paper recycling will solve this.

RE: He already is a dictator
Perfectly appropriate for a developing country to control TV. Uncontrolled TV advertising of Big Macs SUV's etc. is the scourge of the developing world. US violent culture makes some US cities the most dangerous in the World with murder the most common form of death for adults. This culture spread by TV contributes to delinquency, crime etc. and the US drug market feeds violent gangs the world over.
Remember the UK did not allow any TV except for the BBC till 1953. All TV stations for many years had to carry politcal content simultaneously and were carefully controlled.
So Chevez in taking a bold stand against the TV of the evil empire is to be applauded.

TS is one ot those with a full stomach who can't think rationally..
Detroit has one violent crime per year for each 50 of the population.

The List: Murder Capitals of the World
BUBBLES READ IT AND WEEP >>.THIS IS FROM THE HIGHLY RESPECTED FORGIEN POLICY MAGAZINE http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4480
Reliable global crime statistics are hard to come by, but here are five cities that stand in a class all their own when it comes to brutal, homicidal violence.

Caracas, Venezuela

Population: 3.2 million

Murder rate: 130 per 100,000 residents (official)

What’s happening: The capital of Chávez country, Caracas has become far more dangerous in recent years than any South American city, even beating out the once notorious Bogotá. What’s worse, the city’s official homicide statistics likely fall short of the mark because they omit prison-related murders as well as deaths that the state never gets around to properly “categorizing.” The numbers also don’t count those who died while “resisting arrest,” suggesting that Caracas’s cops—already known for their brutality against student protesters—might be cooking the books. Many have pointed the finger at El Presidente, whose government has failed to tackle the country’s rising rates of violent crime. In fact, since Chávez took over in 1998, Venezuela’s official homicide rate has climbed 67 percent—mostly due to increased drug and gang violence. Ramón Rodríguez Chacín, who recently resigned as interior minister, claimed in July that homicide has dropped 27 percent since January—but experts say he’s just playing with numbers. As for Caracas, some speculate that its murder rate is closer to 160 per 100,000. by far the highest in the world Where is Bubbles the chimp now ?

FD is ignorant. Probabably in college the professor asked him the capital of Japan and its population. Fred replied Osaka and 100 million. His professor, well paid by the Dobbs - family said - well done - to know so much about such a remote land - B+.
It must be so great to be so ignorant about so many things things , the difference between a city and a country, film critcs etc etc.
