It's a long process and it might even take years.
There are special message boards for people who want to take their "novio(a)s" home...

Ive dated enough dominicans to know how they work. I also know by meeting someone if there hiding something lets just say i have family memebers who are into santaria. I trust him at this point. He wants me to move to santo domingo but there is no way i could getup leave the life i have here. I have worked to hardfor everything i have. But you can not just say its guys in dr. the guys here regardless if there white dominican puerto rican black or any other nationality there are goodand bad. I give everyone a chance. But this is not baseball only one strike with me

RE: getting married in dr
If you haven't done so already you should get with an immigration lawyer who may acutally knows the laws. One persons circumstanses may be different than another. You may be better off to get a K-1 Visa through the CIS and bring him to the U.S. and get married here. That would give you 90 days to get married and you have to go file for permanant status change after the marrage. Although, if there are problems getting a K-1 then your only option may be to get married there in the DR and apply for the CR-1 permanant resident status. However, if he's is unable to get a K-1 that could indicate other problems with his immigration or criminal history which would be an issue either way (and could be good to know about before being legally bound to him)... SOOO as I mentioned.. get with an immigration lawyer.
