Do I need liquor license?........................................................Can I open near a school or church?.............................. Can I play music outside?..................Any other advice?......Thanks to all that post.

I do not know about big cities, but folks here can be somewhat fickle when it comes to liquor stores and new businesses. I live in Maimon near Bonao and some guy opened a really nice place here. After months of remodeling and probably $150k in fixtures and expenses it is now closed because no one went after the second month. Same thing happened to the original liquor store.

But you can go to Julin's Super Colmado on a weekend and there are probably 300 people drinking beer in the street.

Maybe Santiago is a better place to look.

Liquor store is not a good Idea considering the abundance of liquor available at major supermarkets and elsewhere. A better idea would be a wine bar or tapas bar with wiffi similar to those found in Europe. Part american and part euro flavor. Target it to the upwardly mobile, litterati, and progressive thinking youth and middle class. You have to think beyond the BOX. Trust no-one for (especially if he is Dominican) Dominicans will copy everything you do and watch your every move.
Why wont Dominican Republic prosper?

Because Dominicans are just plain to Stupid

New liquor store opened here in Las Terrenas. A lot of up market brands not easily found supermarkets. Well worth a vistit to stock up!
Up market decor as well and a few chairs outside. A Spaniard I think. Trick is to choose a classy location and only stock the best with knowledge about stock.

By the way exciting news for all you connoisseurs of fine liquor.
English Vodka is No. 1.

Yes but how big is the Liquor market. Is there room for growth? is it growing? How will you/do you differentiate your product? Price, value, packaging, location etc. How does the simple aesthetics/packaging and location add value to your products? If you follow your idea then you will just be another Dominican Business making money.

Imports of sparkling wines and whiskey totalled 31million dollars for a 13 month period.

Total makeret must be in the 100's of millions.

Many developing countries with rapidly expanding economies such as China have rapidly
expanding drinks trade.

I think it would e good to be near present or poropsed metro station. Also near to government
offices as there are reasonably well paid civil servants and vistiors to these offices.

Chinatown could go ballistic in a couple or so years - wholesalers and speciality stores seem to
do well there.

Sounds like an exciting business venture!
