It's a matter of exposure. An article get's a lot more views than an forum post, so that increases the chance of a complaint. Another fact, is that if let's say DT makes an article about me, I'll want to read it and read the comments. If someone posts an article that says bad things about me, I'll want to take action. Despite the occassional fool that comments, there's a lot to be learned from the people's comments on stories because they can be familiar with some background info. that the journalist purposefully decided to omit. |
