I've hired the Dominican lawyer, Aquino De La Cruz from Puerto Plata. Than, filled the necessary applications and attached required documents. Drove to S.D. for the health test (passed); paid the lawyer 2/3 of the $1,500.00 installment, and that was it. Two month ago, that was the last time I saw him. He's never in the office. He never answer my calls. His secretary knows nothing. Please tell what to do. How to fight the crook. Appreciate any comment, advice. Thanks Edited on 3/28/2011 3:21 PM by interinc. |

Rookie move bro. You should have gone with someone recommended. Go to the office and find out if the application has been lodged. Take photocopies of receipts from the lawyer and your passport and explain your problem. You may find someone in the office who will translate/expedite for a probina of 500 pesos or so. I went with a recommended lawyer from DR1 and had the same problem. Budget for a small problem, It's not worth it to chase only 1000 dollars or so. S. |

Before chasing people in the DR you need a great deal more than that. And more than likely find out they are deep in debt and can't pay. Just a practical decision. S. You are lucky you were screwed by a DR lawyer - screwed by a lawyer in most other countries would cost you much more. My advice is, be glad you got a cheap lesson in dealing with lawyers!
