Jarabacoa
So I'm going to DR in a week and this trip I've made the theme of going to some places I haven't gone to but have wanted to. Jarabacoa is one of those places. I always hear things about ecotourism and natural beauty and just wanted to know if anyone could point me in the right direction. Not really interested in any sort of night life or places to stay, just things to check out in terms of nature. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, MIRA. I figured you'd jump on this due to being native. Any especially good stops to grab presidentes/food at?

I'm not huge on horseback riding but if there's quad tours or something I'd enjoy that. Definitely check out the park and the waterfall. Can you go swimming there?

Great beautiful area, nice cool place to be in the middle of summer. I never visited during winter months, but I can assure you the weather has to be chilly. The swimming is nice but the water is always ice cold all the time.

I've only been a couple of times to Jarabacoa but I heard during this time of the year is a little cold. The river was the thing I liked the most, also just incase you wanna have some extra fun the local girls are very good looking women .

take your pick and they ring plaza central:Colmado Buena Vista, Colmado La Fuente, Colmado La Terraza, Colmado La Plaza
When you get to the waterfall, it is possible to take a swim in the second pool after the fall it’s prohibited to swim in the first pool. At the fall, there is a very small track or path going up its nearly hidden – and from the top you can have a small glance of the fall from above. BUT I don’t think it’s a part of the official track system and it’s a difficult track therefore I will not recommend doing it.
In 2006, the entrance fee to the waterfall area was 20 peso, and you must also pay a few pesos to use the parking lot. La Confluencia is a place where 2 rivers meet: Yaque del Norte (the longest river of the country) and Jimenoa. As a child I remember it to "swim" and play and have fun with other kids on the Jimemoa river side, as it was the less deep one. If you're going there, take precautions if you want to swim by the deep part, sort of in the middle of the "intersection", because the currents there can become strong enough to cause accidents and they have.

Don't worry, I'm a huge outdoor person and hike frequently both on and off trails.

Thanks for all your tips, Mira!
