Does anyone recommend a hotel/resort in Puerto Plata that is NOT family oriented? I am dominican and I am taking a bunch of my friends to visit my country, however, I want them to have the best time possible so I am looking for a hotel that has ALOT OF ACTIVITIES or partying access like close to clubs etc. and also nothing private, we want to socialize not be secluded to the town. Please help...thanks.

Barba Negra...it's in costambar...right next door to puerto plata....just a 3-5 minute taxi ride from downtown PP. But, believe me, once you get to BN you won't want to leave.

You do not need to go to any Adult Resorts in Puerto Plata, DR for you and your friends to have a great time. Depending on how many of your friends going with you, it will cost you way less to simply rent a Private Villa with a nice swimming pool, rent a nice SUV and split the cost on everything right down the middle with your friends which will make everything seem so dirt cheap and you will have way more freedom to roam around as I advise that you roll in locally and stay away from the tourist areas if you want to get everything at a more decent price and I do mean everything. Do not limit yourself to the tourist areas and the hypes of the All-Inclusive hotels or resorts where everyone will be aiming at ripping you off on everything with prices being so high. P.S: If you are looking for decent girls who are not prostitutes, I suggest you start promoting a Bikini Contest Pool Party on myspace and invite girls from the areas of Sosua, Puerto Plata and lastly Santiago. Believe it or not, there are many girls in DR who are thrill seekers wanting to have great fun and are not all about money.

Hey, Barbra Negra has everything they need. They don't try to keep you there. Prices are set. Costambar is close to everything and the beach is better than what you can find in Puerto Plata! Oh, when I think of Sosua and Puerto Plata.... prostitutes are the first thing that comes to my mind. There everywhere bugging you all the time! Especially now in the DR's current economic condition! The women over at BB are checked out, aren't going to robb you or follow you around like a stray dog! Don't get me wrong, if you know where to go and can speak the language then it's better to do you own thing! If you don't know what's going on... especially now.... go to BB! Swimming pool, the beach is 5 minutes away... you can meet local woman there....bikini contest! I send all newb's to BB! Haven't heard one complaint!

I fully agree with you Afro! The only time I go to BB is when the bikini contest is going on because it's a great show. Other than that, you would not find me there! But, it's a nice spot for people who want to have a good time and don't know much about the DR and/or speak spanish! This guy said he is Dominican...but he is asking about his country on a forum! Based on that, I ass...ume that he doesn't know much about the N/E region or possibly speak spanish and/or doesn't have any relatives in the country. When I have question about the DR I call my friends in the DR. But, no matter, where there are tourist there are PRO HOS!
