But this is an entertaining documentary and I thank you for posting it. The result of a discussion should not be winning, but progress. |

I happen to have TVE and this is one of the shows I most enjoy watching. I was wondering why it took them so long to film in DR while they had filmed episodes in Cuba, Jamaica, PR, Trinidad & Tobago, even Haiti although DR was the first Spanish settlement in the New World. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and I'm glad they covered Spaniards living and enjoying their different lifestyles in DR. Yes, I also wondered myself.........but at least they finally made it to the DR and I hope they come back for a repeat. My only critique is that they limited themselves to the Sto Dgo area and the east coast region, when in fact there are long time Spaniards all over the DR. One of the oldest most prominent Spanish immigrants to our country is the Corripio family which has a vast corporate holdings. Present day principal of the Corripio group is Jose Luis Corripio who came to the DR as a very young child and today he is probably in his 60's, yet nothing was mentioned about him and his ancestors. His father and uncle, Ramón and Manuel Corripio both arrived in 1921 as Spanish immigrantst to the DR. Edited on 10/31/2011 3:24 PM by guillermone. |
