Most Beautiful Language in the world
As you all know, the world we live in is very small and a person in Alaska can start a relationship with someone in Angola very easily. What is essential in creating bonds and relationship you ask....Language! The world has many languages. Some you have not even heard of. I would like to know your five favorite languages and why you like them. Here are mine...1.Portuguese 2.Spanish 3.French 4.Kreyol(Haitian) 5.Papiamentu(spoken in Curacao)

RE: Most Beautiful Language in the world
mine is similar to yours with a few variations

1. Brazilian Portuguese (because it's quite different from standard Portuguese and I admire Brazilians) Vivo Brasil!!!

2. All "creole languages" from Haitian to Cape Verdean (because it is a wonderful mix of linguistics and each is unique only to its country)

3. Spanish (because I like the Hispanic "flavor" that the Hispano-Caribbean community bring wherever they go

4. French (the language of romance and the abstract of course!)
5. Italian (I watch too much Godfather, lol)

You'll not believe this, but Brazilian Portuguese is more ancient than the one being used by Portugal. The reason for this is that in Brazilian Portuguese, the grammar rules that are used are almost the same ones that existed at the time of its discovery (1503), while Portuguese from the mainland had to evolve over time, due in part to their growing economic dependency first from France, and later from Britain (1703), while the Brazilian colony, being as it always will be an economic powerhouse in relation to its mother country, would not know such constraints. As such, its economic independence allowed it to retain an individual identity from Portugal all thorughout its history.

With that out of the way, my favorite languages are: 1- Spanish (my mother tongue)., 2- Brazilian Portuguese., 3- Italian (mainly to follow the games from the italian soccer league on RAI, LOL) and 4- English.

Didn't know that but as usual you enlighten me Lautaro. I knew that syntax and grammatical structure was different between the Portuguese spoken in Portugal and Brazilian Portuguese. Anyway Obrigado!!!

That's interesting about Brazilian Portuguese. It reminds me of a similar claim I have seen on bottles of Chilean wine regarding the source of their vines versus the vines in Europe today.

1- English - if it is worth reading, then it has prob been translated to English, so seems to me the best window into the world of knowledge
2- Spanish - mother tongue, simple and elegant
3- Brazilian Portuguese - because I can understand somewhat and it sounds exotic
4- Japanese - for a people so unassuming in appearance the language sure seems so dramatic, loud and confrontational!
5- German - much that was worth translating (philosophically) came from this tongue
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

I think there is a exotic and mystique aura about Brazilian portuguese, which is why people love that language so much. When I hear it, I'm always imaginig that I'm in brazil lounging on the beach. Another reason why I like the language so much is because I'm Haitian. In my family, people actually cry when the Brazilian soccer team loses a game. I also heard several years ago that this man in Haiti had a heart-attack when he watched Brazil get eliminated.
