Santo Domingo.- Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez affirmed that various powerful nations countries “in Europe and North America” are pretending to impose on the Dominican Republic in an “abusive manner” conditions that are unacceptable with regard to Haitian immigration.

Lopez Rodriguez asked of the international community to assume their share in the Haitian situation.

“We do not have the capacity to face Haiti’s problems; with respect to health or education, there is very little [structure] there; that is, that is a disorganized country, and for this reason, an international response is in order,” said the Cardinal.

Lopez Rodriguez said that he rejected the alleged imposition by big “European and North American nations,” because the Dominican Republic has its own identity.
