The mugger's dead and buried, pass the Presidente!

SANTO DOMINGO.- It was time to party because a mugger was shot to death by his own victim, in the fatal incident occurring yesterday in the city Santo Domingo East.

Dozens of fellow workers of a messenger from a money-changer company found reason for celebrating to the tune of bachata, merengue and salsa, which took place in a colmado in that community.

According to the Police Bienvenido A. Carrasco, 28, was shot several times by the messenger Jesus Villar, 33, when the latter was in process of making a delivery, near the Charles de Gaulle avenue. Villar pulled out his gun and after they struggled, several rounds were fired causing Carrasco’s death.

Almost one hundred people, between the company’s messengers, relatives and friends celebrated Villar’s great "feat" last night, chugging down more than 10 cases of  "Jumbo" size beer,  according to the colmado’s owner.

It was learned that several of Villar’s co-workers have died from holdups, while others affirmed that Carrasco had mugged in other occasions.

GOOD FOR THEM!!! It is about time that the People take back their own security, since the overwhelmed (and overwhelmingly corrupt) Police cannot stop street crime. Congratulations on ridding one more rodent from the DR & I hope the messenger gets accolades for his bravery.

DISGUSTING!!! I thought this was completely ridiculous. People taking the law into their own hands is the "wild west" like Jeffry mentioned. I would be embarrassed to be apart of that group celebrating this killing and to be a member of the government who are basically mugging the people of this country. Does that give someone the right to take matters into their own hands. No! Utterly shameful and thankfully I will be leaving here soon.

Sorry you feel that way, "Trent", but if you stepped out of the resort world & recognized what is really happenning in the streets of the RD, you'd soon agree that the People are left to their own devices in dealing with thugs. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Paradise, and in time, temper your opinions of desperate people who are sick of the crime.
