SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Casinos Association today announced that it will not serve alcoholic beverages in the hours prohibited by the Executive Branch, to comply with decree 308-06, as part of the measures against crime.
"The sales of drinks is not our activity, being only a complementary service that entails all recreational activity, to which we resigned," says the Association in a press release.
It states that the casinos will fully comply with the decree’s dispositions, in the schedules enunciated in the Executive Branch’s transitory measure.
"We clarified to the Tourism Police (Politur) that decree 308-06 neither orders nor authorizes the closing of the authorized casinos," says the publication.
“The Association states its unconditional support for the decree issued in the interest of preserving social peace and to continue with the fight against crime. It explains that the casino activity is complementary to the tourism sector, and do not allow minors nor firearms.
It also says that it’s controlled a recreational activity, in which there is security and have closed circuit cameras, which can serve as testimony that they are abiding by the dispositions.
The notice is signed by Association president Edmond Elías, Miguel Cabrera, Rafael Cabrera, Ezequiel Pinales, Horacio Santoni, Ramon Aragón M., Antonio Tognarelli, Fernando Báez, Edmond Elías Hermida, Eduardo Laguia, Héctor Escaño and Ramon de los Santos.
