SANTIAGO. - The smell affecting the Cibao International Airport by pig and chicken farms located in Uveral section of Licey township will be faced as of this Monday, with joint actions taken by the authorities of Civil Aeronautics and of that municipality, community organizations and the terminal’s operators.

During a meeting held today Monday, community leaders of Licey raised diverse formulas to eliminate the problems of the bad smell and the waste waters from the animals.

The spokesman of the community organizations, Víctor Bretón, affirmed that the Public Health and Environment authorities are to blame for the problems in Uveral, because in his view these were indifferent to the organizations warnings that the solutions can neither affect the production nor the inhabitants.

He criticized the Environment Ministry, because despite their denunciations it has yet to take action to stop those who pollute and in fact defended the pig and chicken farmers, adding that there are mechanisms to guarantee production without polluting the air and water.

The lack of effective action on the part of the Government Agency responsible is typical.
These agencies are forever "spinning" the facts in an effort to alleviate the impact of a "do nothing" activity and to cast blame on some other cauaes to these delimmas created by their sheer laziness and ineptitude in dealing with the matters at hand.
All they do is "put in their time and collect their ill-gained wages".
Mr. Presidente, PLEASE build a fire under these people andmake them WORK.
